Friend of mine had one of those. They're cool, and nice, but man - you better get a 2nd job just to pay a mechanic.

He finally sold it about 5-6 years back. Awesome condition, but it was ALWAYS getting worked on!

Another guy I knew (haven't seen/heard of him in years) had I think a '74 Detomaso Pantera.

Beautiful, fast car. But the 351 Cleveland was a total POS. Same problem - ALWAYS getting engine work done...

I've NEVER had a 351C that was any good - others swear by them.
I had a '70 Ranchero with a 351C, and that engine was the bane of my existence.

It's more for the Delorean backstory than the product itself. In reality, the product was a meager representation of the original concept. But hey, they made it.

The nice thing about a Delorean was that it had a PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) engine. But yes, they only made 8000 so specific parts can be hard to find.

I visit Jalopnik.com a lot. They had a Nice Price or Crack Pipe on a mid 70's Pantera which had 'electrical problems'. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. I'm a mechanical engineer. I can handle shit bolting together, but wiring a Pantera would end my life.

As far as cars that I owned, my all time favorite was a 1983 Chrysler Le Baron
Town and Country convertible, that I bought new. The car was white, with fake wood on the sides, Marc Cross leather seats, power everything. The car even had a voice that told you to fasten your seat belt, your fuel is low, and so on.

My high school car would be high on my buy list
capri.2.gif

Occasionally, I search the web looking for a good version to buy.

Lacking that, I'll settle for an Audi S6. Same V10 that's in a Lambo. It'll eat an M5 for lunch and crap out a Yugo.

Expanding on that... the 50's and 60's Studebakers were awesome...
LIGHT YEARS ahead of their time...

Here's one most people never head of, 1977 Pontiac Can-Am. Production estimated at 1,377.
Production was halted because the mold to make the rear spoiler broke  6.6L/400cid engine from the T/A,TH300 tranny:

On to motorcycles... when I was a kid, THIS is what I dreamed of in my last year or two of high school (damn! giving my age away!)

1985 Kawasaki ZX750-E2 GPz 750 Turbo.

750cc, 1100cc horsepower

That thing looked like it was from space back in '84-'85.

I drove one of these in HS:

One of my buddies just bought an S6. I got to drive it last weekend. Un fucking believable. The sound is just awesome. Pure bliss. You step on the pedal and the thing just goes. 435 horses that haul some serious ass.

Test driven a CTS-V?

556HP, 551TQ. Unbelievable. One of my friends got one recently, and let me take it for a spin. I was absolutely awestruck.I know another chap with an M5, and having driven both, the CTS-V just feels light years ahead... I, however, prefer a car with a sportier feel, which translates to stiffer suspensions, which is NOT what most luxo-car owners prefer.

I BRIEFLY thought about getting a Pontiac G8 GXP last year. Nice car, grat handling, 400HP/400TQ, and looks to match...

That whole vanishing-Pontiac deal got me nervous, though...

I have no doubt the CTS-V is nice but I just can't bring myself to drop 60k on an American Car. Every American car I've had has sucked. Not getting burnt again.

My wife drives a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S - an SUV with 550 HP and 553 foot-pounds of torque that runs a quarter-mile in 13.2 and handles like a touring sedan (and better than many so-called sports cars). Just an awesome car from the best car manufacturer, bar none. Right now, it's my favorite car, but I'd really like to try out a Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed some day....

I had an opportunity to ride in a 1955 Mercedes Benz 300SL back in the late 70's in Las Vegas. It was owned by the Bell Captain at the Las Vegas Hilton. Apparently, slinging bags along with setting up businessmen attending conventions with Coke and Hookers pays well.

OK.. think red... 1976 Aston Martin

1976_aston_martin_v8_houston_16.jpg

Here's the story... I'm a clerk at a lawfirm... The top dog at the firm wants me to come with him to the airport and drive his car back.. no problem, he owns a gorgeous Caddy and a Town Car... we go to the garage and he jumps in this Aston Martin... hot... hot... I haven't driven a stick since my brother taught me how in a VW that didn't give a crap if you went from 1st to 3rd... 4th to 2nd.. whatever... but I'm not telling the honcho any of this.. I wanna drive this puppy... He drives to the airport.. gets out... I wait till he disappears.. and immediately stall the sucker.. beat the crap out of the transmission all the way back home... but got the hang of it a couple miles from the garage... good time

Only cool car I ever owned was a Trans Am... but when I worked at Goodyear I got to drive some pretty hot stuff on our test track...
