Same at Bucknuts. Only time that site gave a shit about basketball is when they were losing. Cancelled my sub last year when I realized free sites had far better insider info than they did. Fans like that honestly made it hard to enjoy the sport.

See, how is that helpful man? I'm pretty sure no one around here wants to see the Buckeyes lose, ever. But that's not realistic. Frustration is one thing but bringing the whole place down in the dumps is another, ya dig?

You're equating the lack of constantly complaining about players and coaches with satisfaction of losing.

The fact is Ohio State has won one national championship in basketball and it was over 60 years ago. Basketball has been second fiddle for decades and that isn't changing, so there are top-level hoopsters who won't come to OSU. They'll go where basketball is king. That's the reality of the situation.

in other words, you're going to be frustrated a lot if you're expecting Final Fours and NCs on a consistent basis. That's not satisfaction with losing, it's accepting reality.

Thad won 5 B1G titles in 13 years in an equally hard Big Ten conference. He consistently recruited top players who came from out of state, and no he wasn't paying them. So it can be done

Thad Matta is the all time winning coach at Ohio State. The Thad 5 broke the mold and it would be surprising if we ever come close to a class like that again. Holtmann has a bit of a different style but he's improving every year so far after losing studs that could be in the Top 5 in the country, like DJ Carton if he'd stayed. My opinion, is he's not even going to put all of his efforts into the 1 and done guys so he can build continuity with guys like Kyle Young and Duane Washington. Look at the guys transferring in, that's not a fluke.

But the Thad Matta era is far more than the Thad 5. It's Evan Turner, Deshaun Thomas, Aaron Craft, Sullinger, Diebler, Buford. And no we haven't been getting better every year. The best Holtmann team by far is the team led by Thad NBA players KBD and Tate.

Cool so we shoulda just kept Thad? or were you on the Sean/Archie Miller train? We are not a basketball blue blood.. just enjoy the fact we played well in a jacked up season and who knows whats gonna happen in the tournament

So because we are not a blue blood we should never expect to compete for a B1G title? Is scum a blue blood? Was Bo Ryan Wisconsin a blue blood? This is the opinion that drives me nuts. Hell even Matt Painter has won 3 freaking Big Ten titles. My god people Ohio State doesn't have to be Duke but they can be far better than they are.

For how long? Thad's candle burned out quickly compared to what we see at basketball bluebloods. Why? See my earlier post.
