Face it...This has been a special season.

BuckBojangles

Jooooooonyer
We will have faced: Texas, Penn State, Michigan and Notre Dame all in one year.

It's really monumental.

We'd never played Texas before, ever. If Penn State had not joined the big ten, we'd hardly ever face them. Michigan, well it's the best rivalry ever. Notre Dame has one of the best college football traditions.

I'll bet if we told Woody about this year, he'd be like, "what the f**k?"

We lost two, but there's no shame in those games. They were both close and versus very good teams.

Think of all the great players we have on this team and it's astounding.
Smith
Pittman
Sims
Mangold
Holmes
Gin
Gonzalez
Kudla
Hawk
Carpenter
Schlegel
Whitner
Youboty
Salley
Jenkins
And I'm leaving out several others

I can only think what it would have been like without the blight of an envelope of cash. We'd be stomping on Reggie Bush for Godsakes and pounding on Leinart til he wished he was Ken Dorsey.

My Dad and I shelled out some bucks for the Fiesta Bowl because we want to see these guys play (we both live out of town now). This has been an incredibly successful year and no doubt it's great to be a Buckeye Fan.

How many years were we slobbering over ourselves with John Cooper? Wow, JT's been the answer for sure. What a great coach and what a great team.

Go Bucks!

I'm out.

I don't know if Bush would hit 100 on our team or not, but if there is any team in CFB that could hold a determined Bush under 100 yards rushing it is the Ohio State Buckeyes! IMO, we could hold the Trojans under 150 rushing and win the game.

GO BUCKS!!! ~BB~

This team has grown up ALOT since the Texas and Penn St. games. That was evident in the scUM game. They know how to come back and win.

Do you realize that every win was 10+ points except the scUM game? This team knows how to avoid letting inferior teams hang around and make things scary.

Tressel always seems to save a bit for scUM and the bowl game. In 2001 the Buckeyes were just starting to buy into his scheme, and we all know what happened the following year.

I think this bowl game is going to be a bit more lopsided than what people (and Vegas) thinks. This will be a special game for Teddy and Antonio. They've never seen a stage like they will see on January 2nd. Defense will play lights out, especially the LB's, especially if Carp makes it back.

Darius Walker is a very good back, but I don't think he's better than McGahee was, and this defense is just as good IMO as the 02 team. 13.9ppg vs. 13.1ppg isn't a big difference, considering the fact that this schedule was a bit harder than the schedule in '02. I look for him to average under 2 yards a carry.

Man, I need to stop. I might have to do a write up soon to get this all out of my system before the game.

Nice attempt at a passionate thread, but I still find myself wanting more...

...stomping Reggie Bush? Have you seen what a tremendous back he is?

True, true...remember how everybody raved about McGahee in '02? Ahh hell, I'll be the first to say Reggie Bush is special, but I'd love to see what he would do against A.J. and the boys. Unfortunately that will never happen. This has been a bittersweet year. God I wish we could have another shot at the 'Horns! But either way, the future is always bright for Buckeye Football.

Definately. Seeing Troy brand his name in Ohio State history during the 80-yard game-clincher against Michigan was my favorite moment. And seeing, IMO, the best senior class in my lifetime walk off the field in The Shoe for the last time....emotional stuff.

You're right, it has been a great season. However, when I look back at the two losses it is kind of a coincidence that Texas and Penn State were two of the elite teams this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Texas game was scheduled 10 years ago when Texas was struggling. 10 years later, 2005 just happened to be the year they really became an outstanding team again. On the other hand, Penn State. Coming off a 4-7 season and people discussing if JoePa should step down, again a coincidence that they turned around that program so fast and are back in the BCS. I won't go back and dissect these games and 'we shoulda won...' Just something that came to mind. You just kind of have to smile and take it for what it is, that these two teams really hit a high point this year. Good for them and good for us.

That's unbelievable. You gave me goosebumps just reading that. I still haven't gone to the 'Shoe which makes me sad. When I'm older I will go to as many Ohio St. games as I can possibly afford.

Every season is special... (Especially in one where you beat scUM). Beating ND would sure make it specialer though.

And it has been a treat watching a lot of those kids on that list play.

It's kind of funny reading this - in 1995, the Buckeyes, under John Cooper, played Notre Dame (win), Washington (win), Boston College (win), Pitt (win), Penn State (win), the rest of the Big Ten schedule (all wins), then lost to Michigan in The Game and Tennessee in the bowl game to finish 11-2. The Bucks played 8 ranked teams and finished 6th in both polls, plus had a Heisman winner (Eddie George) and a Lombardi winner (Orlando Pace) and a Biletnikoff winner (Terry Glenn).

How many of you thought that 1995 was a "special" season? I guess the timing of the losses had something to do with it (it always seems to hurt more when OSU loses to Michigan and in bowl games), but 2005 is basically the same thing as 1995: even if the Bucks beat ND, it's a 2-loss season with no hope for an NC.

Another question: How many of you thought that the Buckeyes would be undefeated this year? According to our pre-season poll, almost 50% of you, with another 30% voting for 11-1. A 10-2 finish should seem pretty disappointing right now....

Yes, I agree that JT has done a lot of good for the program, but let's be a little bit realistic about this season. Top 5 finishes are nice, but they don't give out trpohies for them.

Maybe 2006 will be our year (and there's no reason why it shouldn't be).
