shiznit7;2328156; said:A couple of things contributed to this. First, he was drawing double/triple teams on almost every single play. This led to his assists number to increase since so many of teammates were open. Second, he had more talent around him with Gardner, Ohio's most underrated player, and also guys like Thompson and Glover. His teammates really stepped up. Finally, their schedule this year was tougher than last year. Unfortunately, Gardner got hurt and wasn't able to play in the playoffs so SJJ lost early to Rogers. Loving will absolutely thrive at OSU. I've said it before, but he reminds me a lot of Otto Porter.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State freshman forward Marc Loving made his collegiate basketball debut in the tenth-ranked Buckeyes’ exhibition game against Walsh on Sunday, a game they won 93-63.
But Loving didn’t wait to play in his first game before forever marking his arm with his college team about a month ago.
High up on his left arm near his shoulder, Loving got a tattoo with the outline of the state of Ohio’s borders. Inside the outline is a montage consisting of the American flag, his last name, and his hometown of Toledo spelled out. But the O inside Toledo stands out because it is Ohio State’s “Block O.”
Loving earned a large chunk of time in the game, and he made the most of it. In 21 minutes of action, the freshman had five points, nine rebounds, two blocks and a steal. After the game, Loving said he could envision earning a regular role for the Buckeyes this season, a task not easily accomplished by freshman under Thad Matta.
“I am pretty comfortable,” Loving said. “Going into the game there were some butterflies. It was a pretty big stage coming from Toledo. … I just wanted to contribute any way I could. That was rebounding and defense, because we worked really hard on that in practice.”
