Andre Drummond did it.

Buuuut... You have to have enough credits to graduate high school (as well as meet NCAA clearinghouse requirements). Very, very few can do that in three years of HS.

I believe Drummond was a different story. IIRC, he had 4 years of HS and was assumed to be going the prep school route for a "5th" year (not unlike what we have seen guys like Carlos Hyde, Cardale Jones, Michael Thomas, etc. have done lately on the football side). Instead, he chose at the last minute to sign with UConn to begin his college career.

Big difference, if I have the scenario correct.

St. John's Jesuit's Marc Loving will spend the final March Madness weekend in New Orleans.

Loving, a 6-foot-8 guard-forward, is scheduled to participate in some of the NCAA Final Four festivities.

The Ohio State verbal commit is one of eight high school juniors, along with 32 seniors -- considered among the best high school basketball players in the nation -- scheduled to play in the All-American championship. It's the second year for the event, which will pair an East squad against a West squad and a North team taking on a South team in a basketball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

"It's very big and it's very exciting to play with some of the top kids across the country," Loving said. "I want to get out there and play as hard as I possibly can."

Loving is a member of the North team and is the only junior on the roster, which is made up mostly of players who have committed to Big Ten programs.

He's the only Ohio State recruit participating in the event. Medina's Kenny Kaminski, who will attend Michigan State in the fall, is the only other Ohio player set to play in the All-American championship.

Michigan recruit Glenn Robinson (Lake Central High, Schererville, Ind.) represents the only future Wolverine on the North squad while Michigan recruit Mitch McGary (Brewster Academy, Porter, Ind.) is set to play on the East squad.

"I'll look to play as hard as I can and measure myself up against everyone," Loving said. "I'll look to build friendships because most of the kids on my team are committed to Big Ten schools."

Loving has never visited New Orleans, but is looking forward to the trip and attending the activities with his father. Besides playing in the game on Sunday afternoon, he's expecting to attend the Final Four contests tomorrow night at the Super Dome.

The fact that Ohio State is taking on Kansas in one of the two national championship semifinals make the trip to Louisiana even more special. He'll have a chance to root for his future teammates.

"It's definitely really cool to have the school that you committed to being in the Final Four down there," Loving said. "They should definitely play a good game."

it would be great if loving turns out to be diebler 2.0 however, when comparing loving to diebler is meant to be a slight ("Cant do much of anything well besides..."), i take exception to the statement.

disregarding the subtext...

comparing loving to diebler earmarks a poster as a poor evaluator of abilities. first, loving is a far superior player inside the arc. marc has a mid-range game off the bounce, off the cut, and off the rim, which we rarely saw from jon until the twilight of his college career. second, loving presents a greater challenge for single defensive players, whereas diebler was a greater challenge for team defenses. for example, loving can post up a smaller defender or stretch a taller defender. diebler, on the other hand, rarely posed as more than a singular threat. third, loving possesses a much greater ability to rebound when he plays with a fire, which is unfortunately occasional.

Loving, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound small forward ranked No. 18 among all 2013 prospects, is finally recovered from a sprained ankle that kept him out of action for much of the spring and early summer.

"It was a positive and a negative," Loving said of the ankle injury. "The positive was that I gained a little bit of the weight I wanted to gain and get my upper body stronger. It was a negative because I missed out on participating with my AAU team and a couple of the EYBL (Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League) sites."

A rising senior at St. John's Jesuit (Toledo), Loving posted 22.9 point per game as a junior and committed to Ohio State nearly two years ago. While many of his fellow campers are entrenched in the recruiting process, Loving doesn't feel like he is missing out on anything.

"I never could see myself going to another school growing up," Loving said. "I always wanted to be a Buckeye. That was my goal, to play for Ohio State, and it came true."

Loving has a freakish wingspan for a wing no doubt. Now he finally has some company in the 2013 class for OSU - it's been a long wait!

The key question now is whether OSU will get a game against UVA during his career so we get to see the pivotal battle of Loving vs. Virginia.
