Thomas, a 6-7 shooting guard, will lead Knights into tourney with his 28-point average

Before entering high school, DeShaun Thomas was hailed as one of the next basketball stars.

He was listed by some scouting services as the top-ranked player in the nation. He was even called the next LeBron James.

What Thomas eventually becomes, only time will tell, but he's been a star as a 14-year-old freshman at Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. The 6-7, 210-pound shooting guard is averaging 28 points and 13 rebounds

“Yes,” said Thomas. “Everyone thought I was nervous … but I wasn’t nervous at all. I just came out and played my game.”
He certainly did. Thomas scored a game-high 40 points, including four three-pointers and an 8-of-9 free-throw showing.
He also won the game for Bishop Luers on a tip-in at the buzzer, a play symbolic of both the Knights’ team theme as well as Thomas’ overwhelming skill.

A standing-room crowd jammed into Bishop Luers? gym to catch a glimpse of the showdown between North Side?s Eshaunte Jones and the Knights? DeShaun Thomas.
The matchup more than lived up to the hype.
Thomas made a tip-in at the buzzer, lifting the Knights to an 88-86 victory in a thrilling SAC boys basketball contest Friday.

Just a glowing report about Thomas and his play at the Pitt Slam Fest. They say he can do it all, Shoot, pass, dribble, D, Rebounds, Blocks shots. Also says that the buzz was that us along with IU are the leaders at this early stage.

Thomas is a player that will have all the hype surrounding him for the next couple years. It would just be amazing if Matta could pull this off and it looks like we are in a good position as of now.

King James Blog.......Thomas dominated in a loss......Indiana and Ohio State are heavily involved according to his AAU coach with Florida and Purdue trying to get involved.


I think we are going to start talking about Sampson/Matta recruiting wars similar to the way we talk about Ohio State/scum wars in football. TM seems to be in on a lot of Indiana HS players.
