  • If we filter S H I T .. should we filter the F-bomb

I know it's been brought up numerous times.. I can go either way in the discussion... when my adult kids use it when in my house.. I stare at them and say "really? .. that's the extent of your vocabulary" .. when I'm at the watering hole w buds.. I couldn't care less... and I expect it...

I know this is a testosterone driven site... but using the F-bomb just for the sake of using it sometimes semi-embarrasses me when I think this is a public forum...

I can EASILY be convinced to STFU and look the other way
Opinions? and you won't hurt my feelings..

I'm to scared to use it in any of the buckeye parts of the site.. after getting cited for using Hell on the old website... Good work MD, he scared me straight... on a side note yeah it let it fly in the browns & Fantasy football forums..

me, as far as fuck goes, i love the word and the act. don't care either way if we want to filter it or not. the fact that this is discussed instead of mandated is one of the many great parts of BP and the BP community.

personally i hate the concept of bad or foul words. words are just words and none of them should be off limits. sticks and stones type of stuff. none of us are politicians and none of us should be held to some politically correct standard.

again though, i don't care either way.

    since you asked though,

i do think there should always be an exception for 'fuck michigan'.

i also think that context matters. buckeye and recruiting boards, probably not the best spot. off topic boards are fair game though to me.

i vote for hoke as the filter because i think fat fuck when i think of brady hoke so it just fits, kind of like mark may is a giant piece of shit for that filter.

hoke is four letters and has some of the same sound as fuck too..

lets test it. i hoked the mark may out of the old lady last night. yeah that flows and works for me.

Lemme say a few things why I started this thread

I am surprised how many times I use Google and a buckeyeplanet.com post shows up .. so it's hugely visible

When I went thru sports with my kids... I was very surprised the number of kids who were in families with very strict beliefs on language (religion).. and they were sincerely hurt by such language... as you all know.. the other team members and their families become part of your extended families... and would like to avoid hurting them as well... so it's very reasonable to assume that there are these same type families on this site

Is there any doubt Ryan Shazier would get his butt kicked dropping an f-bomb in his house... I give a stern stare to any of my kids when they drop the f-bomb in the house... but there are definitely places the f-bomb is to be expected... as VG stated above... not sure how I feel about 'Hoke' cuz I'm not sure he will be relevant that much longer

So... I posed the thread to start the discussion process

We've been through this. Seriously. We can be Bucknuts if you want, I guess, but, seriously, I think this violates a core original BP principle of some kind.

Recruiting forum is obviously off limits but, all I'm gonna say is... if people don't want to be offended by words they feel are... offensive or whatever, my advice to them is to not be anywhere near the internet.
