1. 63 is not what you seem to think it is. The sun still rises.

2. But I went a step too far with this and I apologize. It doesn't need to get personal.

3. Believe what you want, but if Michigan losses a couple more to ND in the next three years you're going to see a media blitz like you won't believe. The Irish are New York's darlings and no one city can promote like New York. Further, a strong ND program is going to draw athletes, media and money away from Ohio State.

Also these things go in cycles. Sure scUM has been
losing to ND recently, but its not like they won't fire Carr in a couple of years if scUM is not a title contender.

2nd of all your are correct, ND is on an upswing. They are getting more recruits. But USC and even OU have been too and that doesn't seem to be affecting tOSU too much. If tOSU and Tressel do they're job like in years past tOSU will take care of their recruiting regardless of which other teams are in their upswing years.

I still contend that having a good ND in CFB is overall good for CFB: more money for everyone. Just because there are a lot of bandwagoners that we don't like doesn't devalue the money they bring in.

I understand what you're saying here, but unlike USC and OU, Notre Dame is in our backyard and unlike Michigan, we don't get a shot at them.

I think my feelings for Michigan stem from seeing The Game in the 50s. I know I started to actually hate the game during the Cooper era because it was getting out of balance. I think if I'd been a student or come on board as a Buckeye fan during that era I might harbor stronger feelings about Michigan.

Since recruiting is the real "problem" for tOSU I think we'll have to wait a couple of years to be sure tOSU is really suffering recruiting losses. Sure we might see an Ohio boy leave for ND but I doubt Tressel doesn't still lock down the state. JT has to be given the benefit of the doubt. By then with the new contract the money will be More Equal.

Yes I was a teenager for most of the Cooper Era so you may be right.

I currently don't see a real difference in the quality or quantity of incoming Buckeye talent and I don't see many others that would disagree with that. If what we've been talking down boils down to recruiting losses and there haven't been any yet then waiting and seeing is what we have to do.

Brady Quinn left Columbus for South Bend, and had a huge year last year when Weis arrived. I don't think one has to wait at all to realize that ND will probably take some kids away...at least when it comes to the passing game...Quinn's success will help Weis in Ohio at least some to get an audience, as will ND beating Michigan.

Now as far a defense goes, I think we're really, really safe.

It's pretty obvious that an improved Notre Dame can only hinder our recruiting efforts. Note how many big prospects now have Notre Dame listed. The better they become, the more attention they will get. You think kids like Ben Martin would be looking at Notre Dame hard if the Irish were like they were before Weis got there?

You obviously don't the meaning of "The Big Game". That will never happen where scUM goes 4-6 for that long. The game is so special because it always means something and it had so much history.

A rivalry doesn't mean how close the schools are from each other, its what is on the line constantly, and for a true OSU fan, if you lose that game to scUM, its considered an unsuccessful year.

To tell the truth, i hate ND as well, but they will never compare to the hate I have for Michigan.<!-- / message -->

I really doubt that Ben Martin wouldn't be looking at other Big Schools like USC, UF, even if ND weren't around. We might lose a kid or 2 to ND every year but I doubt that really hurts the overall ouput of the recruiting classes. As long as tOSU can still compete for a National Title 3 out of every 4 years noone can really complain about the recruiting.
