There is a school of thought that "Everything Matters". If you are a perfectionist in you craft then it's easy to buy into that thought. Everything including the smallest of ingredients matter.
Another thought/philosophy is that we can control nothing, so "Nothing Matters". Maybe this ties into your religious beliefs. God is directing the universe including your actions. Maybe you don't want to even think about your part.
But what about free will? Doesn't that throw a monkey wrench into The Plan? Or is it just a Matrix Illusion?
I believe in a Causal Universe. Actions cause ripples and consequences in the universe. We are a part of the Cause/stew with uncountable outcomes.

I don't fully believe that everything that goes on matters in the grand scheme of things and I don't believe that there is some sort of Master Plan if you will. I do believe that what goes around come around and that no good deed goes unpunished.
