Everyone has assumed that I am a NASCAR

fan. In reality I am not. However, I did turn over to FOX (mostly out of boredom) to watch the final 10 laps. I admit, it was entertaining. Tony Stewart led the race for most of the way. With only a few laps to go with Stewart and Gordon 1 & 2, after a caution, Dale jr. zipped by both of them. At that point the race seemed over. Jeff Gordon made an incredible move with around 5 laps to go to pass Jr. This was followed by another caution. After the caution, Gordon was able to hold everyone off for his 3rd Daytona 500 title.

To my surprise, I did enjoy the end of the race. I do not plan on making NASCAR a regular event that I watch, but I will try to watch the 500 again next year.

Sorry, I haven't been able to watch any car races since Maude Flanders died at the Springfield race track.

OK... I confess... the longest I've watched someone drive a single left turn was when Chevy Chase got stuck in the circle during European Vacation.

I'm not a "fan", but I sometimes turn on a race if I'm working around the house or something. I started paying a bit more attention to it ever since I started working for my company, which is a major sponsor of one of the race teams.

nope. the only reason i knew it was on was because some hick friend of mine stopped by to drop something off and asked if i was going to a nascar party. after i calmed down from laughing my ass off i told her no.

the only reason i knew who won was because i was looking up the score of the lady bucks bball while I was playing poker and it was plastered all over the front of cnnsi.com. luckily i havent heard much else.

On a related note, I was watching the pre-race coverage because I wanted to see who was going to be singing (Vanessa Williams is really starting to show her age). Brian Wilson was trying to sing Good Vibrations, and it was totally embarassing. He couldn't carry a tune, he was singing when he wasn't supposed to, not singing when he was, and just started yelling "Hey! Hey! Hey!" at the end for no apparent reason, after the music stopped and 5 for Fighting was supposed to start. I think they actually turned down or cut his mike halfway through, but you could still hear him. It was a crying shame...it was like watching Admiral Stockdale.
