Everett Golson (official thread)

QB Everett Golson transferring from Notre Dame to play final season at another school, source told @ESPN

Not surprising if this is true. There will be a number of Irish fans that will be upset about this, but a lot of fans are in Malik Zaire's corner as well, I'm one for sure. Malik isn't as polished a passer as Golson, but he does a much better job holding onto the ball, shows natural leadership, and does an excellent job reading the edge when running read option. If the rumor is true it should be interesting to see who will take Golson. South Carolina would probably be a likely destination, but there were rumors that other SEC teams would take a chance with him. Everett has always struck me as a talented athlete, but not a true QB. Golson has never been a consistent force under center, he's been more of a gamer that can either play very well or poorly, it's feast or famine. Regardless what happens I'll support whoever is under center, but I'm excited to see what the offense might do if Zaire gets the job permanently.

Looks like Golson is definitely transferring. Kelly press conference to happen later, and players have been tweeting farewell. Best of luck wherever he lands.

From ESPN: A 6-foot senior, Golson is undecided where he will transfer, a source said. Schools that might be interested in Golson include Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Texas.

That would be an interesting opening game in September if Golson somehow won the Texas starting QB job and had to play his former team.

Simply amazing that all of these heavyweights have been able to recruit/develop anyone better than Golson on their own.......
LSU and Texas in particular have been awful.

Other than Mettenberger, a transfer, LSU's QB situation has been pretty bad for years now. And Texas, despite being in a hotbed for QBs, hasn't had a capable QB since Colt McCoy six years ago.

Ugh, he can go anywhere but Michigan.
Some website said Georgia or South Carolina are his two top destinations right now, but under SEC rules a grad student can't transfer in without a waiver if they've had a prior academic issue.
