there is nothing there to make a judgement....

any media would have run with this story...

looking into it for a year....

felt it was worthwhile to get the story out...

many people at the network were wondering why we put the story out there...

only have andy geigers word against moc....and geiger has an axe to grind...

basically he is covering his ass....and not very well....

any high-profile player that came to espn with this kind of story he would run it....

didnt pay clarett for the story....even though clarett says he was paid.....now he is pissed that moc is lying about this....now he is off his story...and beaten....refused, barely to call moc a liar....

clarett has alot to do to overcome this baggage...big mountain to climb...

they are walking a fine line between what they know and what they can report....

still searching for the smoking gun....but thinks its there....

editor gary hoying....

The Marco Cooper interview was excellent, this one not so good. I would have asked a few more pointed questions. How did they choose who to approach for corraboration. What evidence they have that Mo is telling the truth. Why they didn't say that Marco Cooper told them that his car dealings had nothing to do with the coaches, team, or university but were all on his own. Is there a trail of provable misdeed and what is it. Did they investigate why Sammy's class work didn't transfer and if that was normal for quarters/semesters transfers with non-athletes. Why Sammy and others are enrolled in remedial classes to begin with, etc. There are many more questions that ESPN should have to answer here!!

Hahahahah that is great, yet he still defends him???? WTF MATE

are these threats???? Who the hell are you to invistigate this junk... As a sports reporter you are to report the facts and stories of events that have occured, not what you want to have happend or hear.. Unreal!!!

To expand on this a bit more... Gary basically says that they have more info that will come out in the next few days. We'll see what they have :2004:

Also on the phone now is Andy Groom...
* Says that he was taping the players after the NC game to show his parents... obviously everyone was really happy except Clarett.. he was avoiding everyone and whenever someone tried to tape him he would cover up the lens and shoe them away... basically isolated himself.
* Came on the phone to defend Tressel
* Told MoC to SHUT HIS MOUTH
* Also said ESPN brought this crap upon themselves starting with that 'One and Done' crap

So now Clafuckup is lying about ESPN too??

And still this dusche wants to defend him and look for the smoking gun??

This is getting comical
He HAS to look for the smoking gun now. If the editor ends up not being able to find one, I have a feeling he is going to be a former editor because of this fiasco. MOC seems to have screwed with ESPN as much as with OSU, but at least OSU was smart enough not to deal with this joker, and ESPNtherag was just dumb enough to make this a major story, over nothing.

that part about lying about getting paid and then having to back peddle his ass off about MoC being a liar had me rolling. I almost wrecked.
You have got to love that everything MOC said in the story was "the truth", but after having written the story, MOC is now a liar because he supposedly didnt get paid , but says he did. Newsflash to ESPNtherag and Tom Friend, dont you think if MOC lied about getting paid from you guys and he didnt, that he would possibly lie about everything else that those scumbags reported?!?!?!
