ESPN Strikes Again - The What If Sweet 16?

OilerBuck

Sweet Crude
ESPN stole yet another great idea from Sports Illustrated, and found a way to do the Buckeyes injustice through it.

They decided to enroll LeBron in AKRON instead of tOSU. I realize this is all a pipedream and that it's stupid to get upset over...but instead of being legitimate about this whole thing and sending LeBron to OSU or even NC, Duke, UK...they put him on Akron's squad.

To me, this seems a little transparent that they don't want the Buckeyes to have ANY positive press. Or am I just looking too much into this?

SWEET SIXTEEN
CHICAGO REGIONAL

No. 1 seed Syracuse vs. No. 5 seed Akron

Syracuse lineup: Josh Pace (Sr.), Gerry McNamara (Jr.), Carmelo Anthony (Jr.), Hakim Warrick (Sr.), Craig Forth (Sr.)

Akron lineup: LeBron James (So.) and four other guys
LeBron's college eligibility was in question following his Hummer incident in high school, which scared off all the big schools. But he enrolled at hometown Akron and led the Zips to an undefeated season. Angry at getting a No. 5 seed, the Zips take it out on the Orange with a 76-71 upset, as LeBron scores 36 points, just below his season average, and holds Anthony to just 12.

And this douchbag Schoenfeld not only sends LeBron to AKRON, he can't even come up with names for his teammates and actually has them win the title, over teams with multiple NBA players. I don't think this is so much a case of dissing the Bucks, but rather a case of up-LeBron's-ass-itis. I love the guy too, but man are the ESPN windbags a bunch of suckups!

I'm not surprised, because if he was to go to college rather than go pro, word on the street was that he would go to Akron to immediately give his home town team some credibility and lead them to new heights.

LeBron has a soft spot for OSU (primarily because his buddy Sian Cotton is here), but believe me when I say he would have gone to Akron. Romeo Travis, the 2nd best player behind LeBron from that St Vincent St Marys team is currently a stud on Akron too. Might sound a little goofy, but 'twas good detective work by ESPiN

Why would Lebron have wasted his college career playing for Jim O'brien?

LeBron has stated publicly in the past that he was seriously considering Akron if he went to college. Romeo Travis, and Dru Joyce, 2 of his best friends, play at Akron. That, and the head coach, who was an assistant at the time, was his high school coach. He still calls the coach regularly to discuss b-ball, and works out with the Akron team. Akron did win 19 games last season with their best player out after the first 2 weeks. Imagine if LBJ, was there.

As much of a Buckeye fan as I am, I am not too arrogant, like some people, to always think everybody in Ohio will always pick OSU over any other Ohio school.

Saying this is a slap at OSU is just more paranoia that everyone is against OSU.
I hate ESPin too, but enough is enough.

I don't think anyone can combine the words "seriously considering" and any school for LeBron. It's nice to pretend where he would've gone, but I'd be pretty sure saying he never seriously considered any of them.

I like how E$PN has him scoring 40+, 50+, and then 61 in the championship game against Duke and their 5 future NBAers.
