My biggest concern actually is that Lemming will use these allegations against us. We all know how fond he is of Ohio State. But Alberts and May do take their recruiting potshots at Ohio State. They talk about how uninteresting the offense is and what high school athlete would want to play in it. They've beaten the allegations and the possible punishments to death. To say that these two don't have some sort of vendetta against OSU is to give them too much credit. During 2002, they hammered home over and over how Ohio State couldn't beat Iowa, or that they would get crushed by Miami. After the Fiesta Bowl, how much crow did they eat? None. Ohio State fans certainly gave it to them throughout the season and after the game. That has to still burn. So I would have to say that there IS probably some sort of vendetta on their part as well. I mean, really, how many positive comments have they ever made about the Buckeyes?
ESPN as a whole probably does not have this vendetta. But, they did run the Clarett story like it was fucking Watergate. So, I think they do have a stake in Ohio State getting sanctioned at this point. They want to validate the way they ran their stories - and if you read some of them, they were completely one-sided. Not saying the stories aren't true or won't be proven to be true. But, that they were extremely one-sided at the time. And they are still pretty darn one-side. I don't think ESPN the network hates Ohio States, or has something against the university. But they do want to see their story given credit, and for them, that would come with Ohio State getting sanctions.
