ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

I'd say ESPN was a little off on that one......:slappy:

In addition to that (above post), ESPN only gave Ohio State a 5% chance to make the CFPs.

To be fair, our defense was historically bad last year, and we were replacing a heisman candidate quarterback.

Most of us here knew the defensive problems were mostly awful coaching, and it could turn around with a new staff, but I don't think anyone expected Fields to be that good that early.

The world wide leader is slobbering all over LSU.

Derek Stingley's second interception of the game in Saturday's SEC championship (a 37-10 LSU win) sealed what was assuredly one of the most impressive defensive performances of the season for a College Football Playoff contender, an utter dismantling of Georgia's entire game.”

It was fucking Georgia who had no business being in the Top 4.

“Is LSU's defense good enough to win it all? Answer: For sure. There's an adjustment period for any defense when the offense starts scoring the way LSU has this season. The tempo changes, the approach changes”

It took them 10 games to adjust to the offense? GTFOOH.

“The Tigers are hitting their stride at just the right time”

Against Ole Miss, Arkansas, aTm, and Georgia. That’s some really good offensives to ‘hit your stride against’.

“Is Ohio State No. 1? Answer: Nope.”

So overcoming a 14 point deficit and running off 27 unanswered points isn’t good enough? GFY!

I hope the team is as pissed off and disgusted as I am.

Why not?

1. The schedule was rear end loaded, Michigan State was game #6 (who didn't turn out to be all that good), Penn State was game #11, and scUM was game #12. There were plenty of (supposedly easy) games up front in the schedule giving him time to develop.

2. The cupbard wasn't bare at any other position. He had 4 or 5 star players 2 or 3 deep at about every position. He really didn't have to win the game himself; just put the team in a position to win and let the other play makers do their thing.

3. Justin Fields wasn't "chopped liver". He was a five-star prospect in the 2018 recruiting cycle by every major scouting service, rated as the No. 2 overall player in the Class of 2018, and the nation’s top-ranked dual threat QB prospect. He played in 12 of 14 games as a true freshman for Georgia in 2018, was named to the coaches freshman All-SEC Team, completed 27 of 39 passes for 328 yards and four TDs, and had four rushing touchdowns. I can name 2 first year freshman QBs that lead their team to a National Championship; why would you ass/u/me a second year player couldn't do it?

Some breathtaking analysis by Mr. Hale here.

Does David M. Hale overly rely on hypophora like a middle-school writer? He sure does!
