ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

I cannot fathom the [Mark May] storm that would be commenced upon tOSU IF we had a student die and another commit suicide from situations surrounding the football team.

I think we're seeing a couple phenomena here:

1. People like to see other people tumble from the top. Jim Tressel seemingly had it all.....coaching skills, resources, recruiting skills, a great husband and mentor....everything. But people want to see others have faults.....even if they're contrived or fabricated faults (thanks, media !)

2. Ohio State is considered the big, bad, proverbial "jock factory" that keeps players eligible and wins at all costs. Regardless of facts, many people have their opinions shaped by what they heard when they were kids and what they hear from the drive-by media.

so the past 10 years have been a feeding frenzy for the media to quench the insatiable thirst for dirt to hurt JT & OSU. It has been the perfect intersection of 2 distinct yet strong personal opinion phenomena.

OSU will always have 50% of the nation wishing for harm on us.....fine

Let's embrace the hate and turn it back on them and turn it into jealousy....then eventually envy.....then eventually adoption

Well, I figure this belongs in the "ESPN looking stupid" thread:

Look out world, ND IS BACK!!! You know, sort of like how they were last year...and the year before...and the year- well, lets just leave it at that.

Enjoy that golden cock, ESPN. At least, until they shit the bed yet again, leaving the networks scrambling to justify the multiple primetime dates for a terrible team.
More than just "Pothible." Look at the schedule: They have 1 team in the first 6 that can stay with them, and that game is in South Bend. Then they get USC -- we'll see just how hard the penalties hit them -- at home, followed by 4 cupcakes and a Stanford team decimated by graduation and with a new coach. They could be 11 and 1 or 12 and 0 without breaking a sweat.

09/03/11 vs. South Florida Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
09/10/11 at Michigan Ann Arbor, Mich. 8:00 p.m. ET
09/17/11 vs. Michigan State Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
09/24/11 at Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, Pa. TBA
10/01/11 at Purdue West Lafayette, Ind. 8:00 p.m. ET
10/08/11 vs. Air Force Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
10/22/11 vs. USC Notre Dame, Ind. 7:30 p.m. ET
10/29/11 vs. Navy Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
11/05/11 at Wake Forest Winston-Salem, N.C. TBA

I'll still stick to my opinion that closer to 2015-2017 when the Big Ten contracts are running down, "miraculously" ESPN's opinion of the Big Ten, Ohio State, any of the associated parties will all of a sudden change and become rosier.

The product on the field can be the exact same, but "somehow" the network's opinion of the Big Ten will change.

And then Jim Delany (or whoever) can stiff them or gouge them.

I don't see a guaranteed W on that schedule anywhere. These guys fucking suck. They could be unbeaten or 11-1, but they could just as easily be 4-8. That schedule is a joke...fortunately for my sanity, so is ND.

I'm with you.

I see 8 or 9 coin flips but to be fair I'm not really up on most of those teams.

You're shitting me, right? South Florida, Michigan (and I note that some of the guys who keep telling me Michigan sucks must be thinking they'll win this game again) Pissburgh - Purdue, Air Force, USC - who ND managed to beat last year before the penalties kicked in - NAVY - what are the odds on a three-peat? Wake Forest can't even win in a conference that hates football. Maryland -- the 50's are over -- an ACC mid level at best. BC - might be tough. Stanford. Without Harbaugh, without the two way guy, without the Defensive End, ain't gonna happen.

Could be? Yes. Will be? I don't think so.

^^THIS^^

Nd has some talent, but you have can't guarantee what the results are going to be. This team could win them all or lose 5 games. This is a team I would absolutely avoid if I was to bet on in Vegas.

Obviously S.Florida isn't a traditional powerhouse, but they are coming off a bowl win over Clemson (also beat Lousville, Cincy, Miami), fifth consecutive winning season, so why can't they hang with ND exactly? AF, USC, Maryland, BC, Stanford could all be easy favorites. Navy's won 3 of 4 in that "rivalry", but I'll give the Domers Wake and Navy--but they've got to earn every other W on that schedule. 5-7 is a real possibility for this team, I'll take the Vegas under with my vcash.

Here's the whole article.

The Hilton posted win totals on 35 teams of interest, leaving off Oregon and Ohio State because of “too much uncertainty,” sportsbook manager Ed Salmons told Covers.com.

...

Nebraska 9.5 -140o

Wisconsin 9.5 -120o

Michigan State 7.5 -120o

Penn St 7.5 -155o

Michigan 7 -130o
