ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

I know it's easier to see when you are not emotionally invested in something but no one should be surprised that any coach couldn't just pick up where Saban left off at Bama.

I don't know that Saban was going to keep the train on the tracks in the NIL/CFP era, much less a mere mortal.

Bigger picture is that I continue to believe that the SEC lost it's primary competitive advantage the day NIL became legal. All big schools paid players, I am not naive, but no one did it as comprehensively as the SEC. SEC still has proximity to home for a ton of talent, especially along the DL but their big weapon has been taken away.

ESPN uses their garbage FPI to form their beloved Strength Of Schedule ratings that they love to spew about. No wonder all the SEC teams are comically rated.

Florida is #19
Oklahoma who finished 6-7 is #30
Auburn who finished 5-7 is #31

Every SEC team besides Mississippi State is in the top 50. 4-8 Kentucky is ahead of 8 teams that finished with 10 or more wins.

I would say the FPI is really an RNG but that isn't true.

They work backwards from the result they want and make the formula fit.

They should post a picture of Herbstreit's dog with it. People love dogs.

How long until the mouse goes on a crusade against the transfer portal? Seems like one of the things they are going to blame for the SEC falling off. "Its not fair other schools can take our depth of 4 and 5*s away!" even though literally every other big program faces the same issue now.
