I know it's easier to see when you are not emotionally invested in something but no one should be surprised that any coach couldn't just pick up where Saban left off at Bama.
I don't know that Saban was going to keep the train on the tracks in the NIL/CFP era, much less a mere mortal.
Bigger picture is that I continue to believe that the SEC lost it's primary competitive advantage the day NIL became legal. All big schools paid players, I am not naive, but no one did it as comprehensively as the SEC. SEC still has proximity to home for a ton of talent, especially along the DL but their big weapon has been taken away.
