A letter of apology to the Big Ten
I shouldn't have written off the league, the Buckeyes -- or Urban Meyer
By Mark Schlabach | ESPN.com

Look, I'm in kind of an uncomfortable position here, having to write something I've never written before -- a letter of apology. It seems I inserted my size-11 foot into my mouth back in mid-August. My wife and kids (as well as many -- OK, most -- of my readers) say it happens all the time, but I can't ever recall doing it quite to this extreme.

You probably remember that Ohio State announced on Aug. 19 that quarterback Braxton Miller, the reigning Big Ten MVP and a popular Heisman Trophy candidate, would miss the entire 2014 season because of a shoulder injury. Without Miller, the Buckeyes were going to have to start redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett, who had never played in a college game.

Fuck him, especially after this quote:
Let me check the record books. Yep, the last Big Ten team to win a national championship was Ohio State, which defeated Miami 31-24 in double overtime in the BCS title game after the 2002 season. Your league won one BCS title in 16 seasons of the BCS era, but now it has a chance to go 1-for-1 in the College Football Playoff.

What a fucking tool. Im assuming he is bitter that his Georgia team is cashing in on the welfare that SEC Gods Alabama and Florida has afforded his pretending ass team.

On First Take, an Ohio State fan asked Steven A Smith and Skip Bayless if either thought any of the Ohio State QBs would transfer, and both just said 12 Gauge should go pro if he lights it up in the national title game.

That may actually be the best solution. He's shown maturity and composure beyond his experience, and an arm that would be more than good enough for the next level. He's also shown NFL teams that he can be prepared to play despite not getting starter reps, which I believe has to be very important to NFL teams. He could get drafted in the middle rounds for a good QB team (KC? San Diego? Arizona?) and learn, work on his craft, and start in a few years.

Brax would start next year, and JT waits his turn for until Brax graduates. JT would have to wait 1 year now matter what he does (unless he wins the job)...but that's a discussion in a different thread.

Under "NCAA FOOTBALL HEADLINES" on the NCAAF Home tab was a link "OSU allowed unlimited practice for title game". The actual story explains:
Because Ohio State's spring semester doesn't start until Monday, the Buckeyes are not required to adhere to the NCAA's 20-hour rule, limiting countable athletic activities to four hours a day and 20 hours a week. Oregon's academic term began this week, so the Ducks cannot exceed 20 hours, according to NCAA rules.
Then goes on the say:
The NCAA's 20-hour limit is usually not a concern during bowls because both teams are not in school.
So they put up a link insinuating that OSU is getting a practice advantage but then goes on they say, "Well, it's really not an advantage, but we're counting on your not actually reading the article".

FWIW, Oregon had more practice time to prepare for FSU than we did for Bama.

Sounds like an advantage to me. We practice 8 hrs a day they practice 4. Though I doubt they are going to class and are spending an additional 4 hrs in film room every day.

My only concern with expanded practice time would be the potential for an injury, or guys just wearing themselves out before the actual game.
Hopefully, that's the job coaches will do to see that they don't.
