Eric Kasilious saying USC's schedule is soft

There's not much they can really do about it except play a tougher non-conference schedule...which could be an option. It's not like they are gonna stop playing their own conference opponents just cause the conference has been a little down during the past few years. If USC loses a game I do think they should be out of the national championship pending other teams having one loss or less, but I don't think one loss should put them out of the BCS picture. Even if their schedule isn't all that difficult, it's not easy to go undefeated for a season at all

Intersting Pac-10 to Big Ten comparison. Anyways, I think a lot of people are underestimating Purdue. Sure they have an 'easy' Big Ten schedule, but they're also a VERY talented team. They probably have the best PK in the conferece in Ben Jones. They have a good defense, with 11 starters back. Their DE's are outstanding, and their back 7 is very good. Brandon Kirsch is a very good QB, they have two seniors at RB, and a deep group of WRs. They're instaling a spread-rush attack, with option and passing plays being run from it. I think a lot of teams are going to have a lot of problems defending it. It's definitely not just the schedule, this is probably their best team since the Rose Bowl team. Anyhow, I'd say they go 9-2, with losses to Iowa and Penn State.

I'm a big fan of Eric Kasilias. He's usually right on with most things.

He's the best at leading into the next story after a commercial break to keep you listening. ex. "You'll never believe who is going to be fired today at noon! That after the commercial break when we return to ESPiN radio."

I visited Stanford and Cal last weekend, and those Cal Bears are very excited for the 2005 season, especially about their home game vs. USC. They have two new receivers on their team that they have high hopes on. One is a freshmen named Jackson (MVP of the Army All-American game), and the other is a transfer from a local community college, but was a player at LSU before that. Based on what I have seen and heard, my upset of the year will be Cal over USC!!!

Agreed. I don't care if they get a BCS game, but if they make it to the title game, it better be only under one of two scenarios:

1) They're undefeated.
2) They have one loss and everyone else from the BCS conferences has at least two.

I'm willing to put a 1-loss USC team ahead of any 1-loss Big Least team.
Also these BCS teams:

1-loss Texas Tech, Okie St, or Baylor
1-loss Vandy, Ky, or Ole Miss
1-loss Duke or Wake Forest
1-loss Indiana or Minnesota
1-loss Pac-team, unless they beat USC

But other than Louisville, I'm not holding my breath that anybody in that group will get through with just 1 loss. :biggrin:

yeah... except for the small fact that despite the perception, the Pac Ten is better than the big xii, and has had success against the SEC... look at the recent matchups... a one loss USC team would most certainly be better than a one loss big xii North team... the big xii north is fucking awful...

Colorado plays at Miami (FL), and at Texas, plus a Big-12 game against Texas or Oklahoma. If they were to lose to Texas, but win at Miami and then avenge the Texas loss in the Big-12 Championship game, they could make a better case than a 1-loss USC team. Of course the voters wouldn't let that happen.
