Emory Jones (QB Florida, transfer to Arizona St., transfer to Cincinnati)

Makes you wonder if the staff was kinda on the same page here. Were he lighting things up across the camp circuit and he continued the trajectory he was on when he was first being recruited, perhaps the staff would have been a little more patient with the visits and waffling on his commitment. A kid tailing off his development trajectory and not showing that he was fully committed makes recruiting decisions a lot easier.

That said, like @CFPBuckeye suggested, never want to see a kid failing... but given the struggles and the lack of commitment, glad this isn't a problem that the staff will need to address. Frankly, given some of his struggles and the fact that he ended up a UF and will likely see the field early, I kinda feel bad for him. I suspect that with time to develop he could be a very good player. Throwing him into the fire without that time could be detrimental. I'm thinking of what happened with Pryor here. Forcing a kid to play before you fix mechanical issues and have him really ready for the game at the next level is equally likely to break a player as it is to do anything else.
Makes me think of a former UF QB, Treon Harris. Forced into starting duty early, with mixed results. Only to transfer

Since Emory Jones decommitted from Ohio State, the Buckeyes have had two QBs drafted in the first round (Haskins, Fields), signed two 5-star QB prospects (Stroud, McCord), and have a commitment from a third (Ewers). I think that we did alright without him.

Yeah but can any of those OSU QBs swing a mean frying pan 8D

Kind of funny that I, along with others, were so upset to "lose" Emory. Man it sucks that we had to get by with Haskins, Fields and Stroud. Things worked out pretty damn good eh? Similar things might be on the horizon with Ewers, but I had to comment after remembering that Emory was ever even committed to OSU. No ill will at all, just funny how some things turn out.
