I know the Quarterback from EMU, Alex Gillet and he has a decent arm but is more of a runner. The major problem is, I am 5'11" 190, and he might be 5'11 1/2" 195........not a great thing when you have you cameron heyward and john simon running you down. Game is gonna get ugly very quick, and I would be surprised to see the first teamers for just the first.

Anybody heard how some of our secondary players are after OU? I saw Howard, Evege, and Torrence all get shaken up didnt know if anyone had a status on them at all. :osu:

Hahahahaha. They're the eagles not the emus, that's fucking hilarious though. I'll be at the game as and Eastern Michigan student, but a buckeye fan. And to be honest, I don't think any "Eastern Michigan Fans" actually exist.

I'd love to see us come out exactly like we did against OU, fired up and sharp.

No sense in so much as letting them get across the 50, and TP should be able to go to town against this secondary/D-line.

45-0 is my guess. The D wants the shutout, had 2 near shutouts in 3 games.

As a sidenote, how annoying is it that people keep referencing that Posey KR for a TD that was called back? They usually say, "Posey had a 99 yard KR for a score. It was called back because of an illegal block, but still...:

It was that goddamn block that sprung him free! Jesus.

I experienced two athletic high points when I attended Eastern (neither of which had to do with football):

1) Beating Michael Finley's top 25 ranked Wisconsin at Eastern. I believe Eastern was up something like 45-18 at the half; then Michael brought the Badgers back to make it close. Boy, was he impressive in college.
2) Beating Duke in the NCAA tourney.

Aside from being a ball boy for home football games during my freshman or sophomore years, the games were never that enthralling. It was simply a matter of getting toasted at the tailgating. Had to get lit in order to manage the weather and the pending doom of the game loss. :lol:

You can throw the Miami kickoff return for a TD in that block in the back scenario too. Without the benefit of an illegal block and some questionable holding that also went uncalled those returns don't get "housed".

Still doesn't excuse the punt return and/or the blocked punt...

Against an overmatched Mac school like EMU: tOSU should look all-world in all phases of the game.

This is going to be reallllly ugly. I'm sure EMU will put up a fight for awhile, but man, they struggle to play 60 minutes against MAC teams. One of the few things in their favor is their head coach (Ron English) knows the Buckeyes a little - he was defensive coordinator and DB coach at scUM for LLLLLLoyd -- and then rodriguez canned him (must be why the defense is so good now!).


English is a likeable guy but it is so hard to recruit to EMU.

Some of the fine points regarding Eastern (whew-whoo!!!):

School recently decided to not raise rates for tuition, room, or board.

The school may suck athletically; however, the breakdown for university improvements is 70 (academic) and 3 (athletic). Since I graduated in '97, the university has taken a very decided approach in how they want to be perceived. A couple years ago, I recall they were wanting to go up a level in Tier research.

Ron English is still an idiot.

I can't play the role of troll, so I'll just provide some insight into the school from a personal POV.

I believe that Eastern still has a reciprocal agreement with Toledo where the students from the opposite states can pay in-state tuition. I attended EMU, because they were the closest place for my degree. And oddly enough, I actually do what I got a degree in. I feel it was an excellent experience (even though it was in Michigan). Granted, it was 13 years ago; however, I don't have too many friends who got a four-year degree for less than $15k total. Unfortunately, for me, a vast number of improvements were made after I left. I have seen them after the fact; however, it's great to see simply that the university has enough gumption to improve itself. When it comes to athletics, I think EMU would be served well to drop down a level in football. The attendance draw has just never been there, and I don't think it ever will. I attended during Charlie Batch's years, and the crowds wouldn't top 15K people. He's a great guy (for all those Steeler haters out there). I met and played ball with Earl Boykins. He's a diminutive, shy, excellent basketball player. And of course, I've got to give a shout to the Iceman, George Gervin.

For those that actually have an interest in reading about the school...
