East Region vBet and Discussion

if cuse had won, the fanbase firepower of syracuse, north carolina, kentucky, and ohio state in newark would have been outrageous. that is a scalper's wet dream. even with marquette there, it will still be a sight.

but again... cuse, unc, uk, and osu? are you kidding me?

Question on the over-and-back call-

Did the 'Cuse player ever really establish himself in the front court? His first step with the ball was with the toe on the line. He should have still been able to move forward and establish possession in the front-court.

Thoughts?

Lost in the Syracuse hate/joy of seeing an upset - I wasn't thinking of this in terms of who I'd rather see the Buckeyes face, I was thinking of it in terms of who would be more likely to beat UNC. Given the problems UNC had against the zone today against Washington, I would have rather they faced Syracuse.

this was my thinking, too. i understand why some buckeye fans wanted marquette to win, but, as i previously stated (edit: on another board; sometimes i forget where i post what ), cuse's zone probably would have given unc fits. the tar heels are not a team of jump shooters.

I know Cuse would have had a bigger presence in Newark than Marquette will, but if our bracket had ended up Ohio State/Kentucky and North Carolina/Syracuse that would have been a group that could make up a Final Four for the whole thing many years.

Ohio State could conceivably have to beat Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke and Kansas to win the championship. They happen to be the four winningest programs in NCAA basketball history.

I'm sure glad we got the top overall seed. Otherwise, we might have to take down San Diego State, Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth and Brigham Young to do it. :wink2:

If FSU continues to dismantle ND, I don't see how anything other than an Ohio State/Kansas title game would even be a possibility.

I see Kansas having a much easier road to the title game, if that result holds, but it doesn't do anything for us. We're not going to shoot 60% from behind the arc every game. Tougher battles await.

what's the attendance at the game in New Jersey going to be like? I was happy to see Marquette win as thought Syracuse would have a big following from NY and generally everyone roots against the upper seed. UK and NC both travel very well and assume we'll see a lot of blue. Would love for Buckeye Nation to be in masses but would bet we'll have less than both UK and NC fans.

As a sidenote I grew up in Kentucky and went to school at OSU. My wife is a UK alumn as well as many of my friends. Need a victory Buckeyes !!!!! :)
