The mid-major obsession is a little overboard here. Us not being in the top 25 in my opinion is ridiculous as well. Katz is a bright guy, but he must not know what our lineup is going to look like...young and unexperienced or not.

Also, as many have said, Thad Matta is our coach. Wake up Andy.

Yeah but many would argue that Lighy was our mvp in the Tennessee game, and had a great tournament...With an increase in minutes, it should be obvious to anyone that he is goign to be good...

Then throw in Butler who has been a cog for 3 years now, the fact that we bring 5 guys 6'9'' and above with one being able to step out and cause all kinds of match up problems...Then throw in the Diebler and Turner, who while not McDonald's all americans have had successful high school careers, have shut down guys like Derrick Rose who he mentions in his write up and Diebler who can shoot it from anywhere in the arena...

I would have no problem if the teams were no brainers above us, but look at some of the teams ahead of us, and they have no business being ahead of us...

I'll give you that, defensively, with Butler, Hunter, Lighty and Turner, this team is top 25 material. I'm concerned about the offensive end. I think we'll have to rely on Koufos and Diebler too much.

Butler will score...He has never been pressed to be a scorer, but that is what he was in high school, he has some 20+ pt games in college...

It is just a matter of him not taking the shots...Next year he will have to...

Also Lighty will be much improved on his game, as we all saw his driving ability and shot improved at the end of the year...

I love those guys as team players, but I'm skeptical about either becoming a reliable go-to guy.

I agree until Lighty develops a reliable jumper it will be tough for him to be a go to guy, but he can get us 10-15 pts a game...

Butler can play the pick n roll game very well and with a guy like KK that will pick n pop it will be hard for them to double Butler off the pick and leave KK open for the open 3...

I think the key to next year is Butler opening up his full array of moves and penetrating more, and getting the ball out in transistion a little more and creating for the rest of his teammates, while creating for himself...

JBut's offense was so bad at the end of last year. I hope you are right.
i think as butler's fitness goes, so does his offense. we saw it this season as well as the season before.

as i've stated before, what concerns me most about the guards and forwards for next year is their conditioning. i'm fairly confident that butler, lighty, and turner will excel defensively. i'm also fairly confident that butler, turner, and diebler will excel offensively. what worries me, though, is that those four will be spread too thin among the three backcourt position. if wallace can adequately spell the forwards by his play at the 3, that will go a long way. with only four players that we know will play the three backcourt positions (and play them well), wallace's ability to play successfully at the 3 will be integral to the team's late season success.

I agree on Butler, but I really look for a season out of him, much like we saw from Nietzel this year at MSU...Matta will use him as the primary option on the perimeter and will put him in situations where his skills are utilized...

Also agree on the rest...I think that Wallace will give us minutes, but not sure to what extent he will score, I see him contributing much like Lighty did this year...

Rivals

Here is another top 25 list, where they have UNC 1 and Memphis 2...

We sneak in at #24 in this one...

Don't like his comments about the guys left from the Thad 5 as being the Sad 2...Does mention our incoming class being ranked 6th so we have guys coming in...

Let me see if I understand. Some of you are upset because our Buckeyes didn't get ranked in the T25 in a college basketball ranking in APRIL?

It is discussion and in our opinions we feel that they should be ranked, no matter when the rankings are made...

It is not like what we say on here is going to effect what Katz is going to write for his next article...

That article is retarded. Yes we won't have Conley,Oden, Cook or Lewis but we also have people coming in which a lot of these "experts" don't know..We probably wont have a great as a season as last year but we will make a championship run..Katz is an idiot.

I'm concerned about the offensive end of the floor. Unless JBut and Hunter and Lighty step up to be double figure scorers, we'll be relying heavily on freshmen to score. I can't help but imagining the tv analysts saying "where are the points going to come from?" With that said we will cause mismatches with our size and length, we will be athletic and deep and should be a very good defensive unit. No way we should not be in the top 25. Hate to be cliche, but we do seem to be disrespected a lot.

:oh:
