moreOhio State trustees voted this morning to give President E. Gordon Gee a 3 percent pay raise worth $25,036 and a $333,812 bonus for raising billions of dollars for the university through fundraising and several bold new initiatives.
University trustees praised Gee for helping the university thrive during tough economic times. Trustee Chairman Alex Shumate said Gee is ?bold, charismatic and has a vision.?
The raise will bump Gee?s base salary to $859,566. The increase mirrors the overall percentage given to OSU?s faculty and staff members this year.
With deferred compensation of $225,000 for completing five years at OSU and a retirement plan worth $641,301, Gee?s total compensation this year is worth about $2 million.
His total package will be about $2 million, including deferred compensation, supplemental pay and other benefits, such as a retirement package of nearly $641,301. Gee has topped The Chronicle of Higher Education?s executive-pay survey of public-college presidents since returning to Ohio State in 2007.
Yeah, clearly Gee hasn't earned itbuckeyebri;2253981; said:And we wonder why the cost of a oil legs education is spiraling out of control and raises more than the cost of living every year.....

your argument screams otherwise.I never said that he didn't "earn" it
He's not an educator. He's a leader and fundraiser.but how much compensation is enough for an "educator"?
I know it must be tough going to those fancy dinners and events and hob knobbing with captains of industry.
Which happens at tiny schools with presidents making chump change, making your point a pretty terrible one.Meanwhile, everyday students and parents stare down $200 text books that hold no resale value and pay ever increasing tuition fees that exceed the cot of inflation.
The guy raises billions and you're angry that he's getting a 3/1000th of a billion dollar payday.I know he does an exceptional job for OSU, but wouldn't it be nice just to hold things flat for a year?
