Dyson vacuums

Anybody have one of these? We've got 2 golden retrievers and the fur in the house was driving us crazy. The last straw was that our son is now crawling, and he gets covered in fur everytime he gets on the floor. I did some research and finally caved- we bought one over the weekend. This thing is awesome.

I vacuumed the carpet in our family room on Sat. afternoon with our old vacuum. Then I did it again on Sunday when we got home with the Dyson. It picked up enough fur (that the old one missed) to make a third dog. It was very impressive, and perhaps a bit gross, to see how much crap sits in the carpet because the old vacuum wouldn't suck it up.

I'm a believer now.

We have one and I will second everything you said. It kicks ass. We have 2 cats and a dog, and like you said, it is borderline disgusting how much hair and dander the thing picks up.

Is it an upright or a canister vac?

Yes they are awesome, nothing comes close.

Yes, I have one of these, the Dyson Ball vacuum. It made our carpets look like new - maybe my wife was correct, a $400 vacuum might be worth the money.

We have one... my wife loves it.

When we first purchased ours, she did the same thing (vacuumed with the old one, then used the Dyson... amazing how much more it picks up)...

Is it an upright or a canister vac?

Most of the models are upright, but I think they do make a canister.

My wife has been trying to get me to buy one for about 6 months, and I was totally skeptical, given the price. But it appears to be worth every penny.

Never used one. We have a Rainbow. It is the only thing that gets out the black labrador hair.

We've had one, well actually 2, for about a year and a half. After a couple months, the first one would overheat after about 10 minutes and not turn back on for a few hours. There was some sort of power supply problem that couldn't be fixed so they gave us a new one. The only thing I don't like is the suction power of the wand. For the first couple uses, it was fine. I clean the filter after every couple uses because of the dog hair and the carpet powder. I've taken off the traps and cleaned them out. It has just enough suction to pick up the hair and hold it on the attachment but it won't pull it through for some reason so I have to pull it off by hand.

Those work very well, my mother has one.

Dyson.......(cue in cheesy english accent) I just believe things should work properly.

I have a Filter Queen that just kicks ass. But of course I sold them for about 2 months. Now those are powerful, was always fun blowing up Kirbys in our free time.

We have one. I agree with everyone else. Kicks total ass. Has just about as much suction as my shop vac when I use the attachments.

We have a Kirby too... my wife has had it for almost 15 years and it runs great... we have it tuned up every couple of years and it runs like a champ.
