Dutch Skating Coach: "US Football Sucks"

I do somewhat agree with you. 'mericans tend to think that there are 4 sports and the rest are strange hobbies. When you have an anomaly, for example Tiger Woods or the Williams Sisters, it shows what is possible if we took our BEST athletes and had them play other sports.

It would be interesting if you put a tennis racket in the hands of a certain % of these kids that run a sub 4.4 or put them on a bike.

The rest are pretty much strange hobbies, the more I participate in them, the more I realize how strange I am.

Anywho... I was thinking of this crossover stuff and the first thing that popped into my head is that we'd probably have to sacrifice cyclists for speedskaters or whatever, then I was thinking, how many velodromes are there for the sprint guys (more than long track speed skating facilities prolly but still not that many). But, that's the thing, its not as though everyone can cross over, we're not missing a whole lot probably by never having seen Ray Lewis do a triathalon or Terence Cody play Tennis. We already know Deion Sanders really can't hit a curveball. Herschel Walker and Willie Gault can push a bobsled, but, probably can't drive one real well. (I would rate Willie Gault's pass catching abilities as suspect anyway).

Re: crossover into other sports, I've always wondered what kind of soccer player Barry Sanders could have been. Between the burst, change of direction, and balance , , ,

I've often wondered what kind of ice dancer Tom Brady would have been. Between the haircut, dancing and vagina....

Bo Jackson was impressive in baseball and football. Jim Brown made AA status in football and lacrosse. Legend has it that in a lacrosse all star game Brown was benched by agreement between both coaches to keep the game even.
