DT Quinn Pitcock (official thread)

Congrats Quinn... even if you did not home the hardware. Woodley is a great player and had a really good year as well.

BTW.. hell must be getting cold a Michigan player said something classy and intellegent...
"Guys were down a little bit, but we have to understand that we put ourselves in that situation," Woodley said. "We allowed other people to control our destiny. If we would've come out, won in Columbus, taken care of our business, it would've never come down to that.?

Buckeyes' Pitcock happy to just be a Lombardi, Lott finalist

By Doug Harris
Staff Writer

Wednesday, December 13, 2006

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State's Quinn Pitcock didn't pick up any national individual honors this season, having been beaten out for two major awards in the last week, but the senior defensive tackle from Piqua had a memorable experience just attending the ceremonies as a finalist.
"I was blessed to be there," said Pitcock, who was named an Associated Press first-team All-American on Tuesday.
Michigan defensive end LaMarr Woodley won the Lombardi Award in Houston last Wednesday as the nation's top offensive or defensive lineman or linebacker, while California cornerback Daymeion Hughes captured the Lott Trophy ? which goes to a top defensive player who also exhibits great character ? in Newport Beach, Calif., on Sunday.
"It's been a blast traveling the world," Pitcock said. "I've seen so many bright lights and handshakes and smiles. One day all of this will be gone, and you'll wonder where everyone went who wanted to ask you what you thought about your day. ... You just have to love it while it's here."

What a great outlook on the experience. Just another example of the character that JT recruits / instills.

Although he was a former All-America defensive tackle at Ohio State, you may not know Quinn Pitcock. He didn?t contend for the Heisman Trophy, like Troy Smith, or bring a crowd to its feet with his 4.3 jets, like Ted Ginn. He didn?t attract national attention by sleeping in a tent, ala Anthony Gonzalez or have a dad, such as James Laurinaitis, who was a former professional wrestler. No, Pitcock was one of the more anonymous, yet vital, cogs in a program that won 30 since he became a starter in 2004. He?s a powerful, 6-3, 295-pound interior lineman with a contagious work ethic and the quickness and athletic ability of many ends. Why should you care? Because Pitcock will be a first-day draft choice in April and is about to turn the coveted twin killing for NFL prospects, getting invites to the Senior Bowl in Mobile and the Combine in Indianapolis.
