DT Johnathan "Big Hank" Hankins (Seattle Seahawks)

I know I'm in the minority here when I say money isn't anything. You only have limited chances to play for a national title and one of his was taken away. He has a very realistic shot next season. Worst case scenario he tears his ACL or breaks his leg, probably still gets drafted later and makes a lot of money. In the end he'll have an Ohio State degree and will be able to make a living either way. Depends what's important to him.

Take the money and go, look what happened to Sully and Buford.
Or Brewster...
Brewster hurt himself in the draft by playing like shit his senior year...

I think he goes. I recall more than one occassion where he had to be helped off the field this season... I'd be thrilled if he wanted to come back though!
I don't recall seeing this, but if you (and others have said the same) saw this, it's probably NFL scouts have seen this, too. One more year of S&C can't hurt...

The kid should take the money. He's got his heart in the right place, and it's certainly not a vice to want to be financially independent and able to support your family. Unfortunately S&C is not going to help you become immune to injuries. He's at the top of his game, and he's certainly given enough back to this university.

Who in a million years would have guessed that would happen to Brewster? Mike went from a second round pick (?) to undrafted. What's to say the same couldn't happen to Hankins?

He was only helped off from minor nicks and dings, nothing major.

You do realize how bad that comparison is?

It's the same ratio. Would you rather $7k or $400k?

For a professional athlete, the $400k would be about like making half of minimum wage in a given year versus the $22 million. It doesn't matter how it looks to me, it's a matter of perspective for that particular level of profession. Just as a CEO for a major Wall Street firm isn't going to take less than 7 figures.

400k isn't enough for you? Geez

I'm not a professional athlete with a career life span that is typically 3-5 years with a possibility of reaching double digit years.
