DT Johnathan "Big Hank" Hankins (Seattle Seahawks)

Big Hank sure looked good. I agree, barring injury he won't be starting. But I think he'll play significant, and meaningful minutes (hello again Captain Obvious) The depth that he and Goebel provide on the interior is great as a fresh Dex and Simon is a scary proposition for the opponent.

He was getting double teamed last night and still getting some penetration. I can't wait to see him in there on goal line.

I would prefer that the defense doesn't let an offense get that close to scoring, some 3rd and shorts would be just as good. :wink2:

And to think, Michigan didn't offer him because they thought they were all set with 5* Will Campbell (who is currently running with the 3rd team). :oh:
:io:From what I've heard, it's a little stretch to call what Campbell does "running" I'm sure glad Big Hank is wearing the S&G

I am in total shock that Big Hank is playing and not redshirting.

I was pretty shocked by this too. But considering the incredible haul we have already in the '11 class, and the potential to repeat that success for the '12 class, do you think the staff might have seen it as a situation where we're going to be overflowing with talent there anyway, so why not let the kid get some game time experience from the get go?

Nobody on the roster really fits/fills the role Big Dex plays on this team IMO. He is there to help take the load off of Big Dex, who has had injury problems, AND to prep for his potential starting role as his replacement starting next year.

The way Big Hank's been playing, being given playing time this year is no shocker. His play warrented a move for Adam Bellamy to DE to get the best 8 D-Linemen on the field. It would have been nice to redshirt him, but he's too good. We need him. And we'll rely on him if Dexter goes down again this year.

Going back to the NC year, and probably prior to it, the Bucks have liked to use guys in different positions along the D front. It takes a pretty special athlete to have both the size, strength and quickness to play inside and out, think Kenny Peterson on down to Cam.

The one vital need for the line has been a space eater who takes double teams to contain, and allows the others on the front to go one on one and create some mismatches. Tim Anderson down to Big Dex have filled that role.

When you get a big space eater who also has quick feet who can not only hold his own against double teams, but beat them and still get into the back field, then you really have something. I really look forward to watching Big Hank progress and allow this and future D-lines to dominate' This doesn't even factor in how much his and John Simons ability will help an inexperienced group of linebackers and D-backs next year.

I was at the Miami game and saw this big guy come out for a goal line stance. Guy is huge!! When I got home I looked his name up and then found he had his own forum...so I was a little late to the Big Hank party. Anyway guy is awesome and reminds me of a Terrence Cody type player. His weight is listed at 335 but I would argue he's easily over 350. Look forward to watching him play the next few years.

I was at the game too and recall him commanding doubles and getting great penetration on a pass rush once that altered the play
