I got the impression from an earlier Irish Eyes article that Goebel thought that ND was just okay after he visited. He said nice things and was polite, but it didn't seem like they would be a strong challenger.

It is strange that a few weeks ago he said that OSU and Wiscy were his top two and then in the Allen Wallace article he doesn't have anything specific to say about either team.

With no inside info, just reading between the lines on what he has said and using some common sense, I really think we are the team to beat. With no other DT offers yet, you could guess that the coaches feel okay about our chances. Plus, he seemed really impressed with our history of making wrestlers into good DTs. Having Fickell on staff should also be a huge boost. I hope I'm right about this because Goebel is one of the most important recruits left out there IMO.

These are FAIRLY ACCURATE statements....as far as Internet Recruiting Articles....well the reporter's / analyst's do their best and it gets to be a difficult situation for Top Recruits to answer ?'s over & over while also trying to be RESPECTFUL.Garrett is a young man of few words, never has liked attention however a crowbar has been useful over past several months.

Garrett Goebel Update

Goebel recieved offer from Tennessee Volunteers today , Michigan yesterday (offer #17+ ??), yet Garrett still has BUCKEYE's among his favorites. Garrett ( & Family) have the utmost respect for Buckeye Coaching staff & players (not to mention the verbally committed recruits!!)
Goebel hopes to make another "unofficial visit" to Columbus in the near future.

Not sure... One would think that it would have an effect, but we'll have to wait and see what Garrett says I guess...

Garrett did not choose his high school because it is a relatively small, private CATHOLIC school. Many other factors resulted in his H.S. choice. Garrett has ALWAYS tried to avoid attention (his character, humility, respect are RARE given his age / accomplishments) On the field (or wrestling mat) he is a fearless animal. Otherwise a compassionate, caring kid who is trying to be courteous and honest.

For those wondering about ND, I was sent a list of ND's top ten targets by a contact of mine... No Garrett and 3 DL's (1 Nose, 1 DE, and a DE/LB) other than the already committed Sean Cwynar (who will play DE in the 3-4)... Not that it means anything, as they obviously want Garrett due to the offer, just wanted to get this out there for people to see... :wink:
