DT Doug Worthington (Official Thread)

Doug has ALL the talent in the world to be great, only that he has been plagued by injuries. Here is my hope out to him that he will have a very productive year and earn himself a shot at NFL. IF NOT, I have confidence that Coach Tressel has already made him a winner in life.

GO BUCKS!!!! We are SOOOOOO fortunate, as fans, as spectators and as witnesses, to have Coach Tressel as our coach and role model. AWESOME!!

OSU
Doug Worthington

12. Senior defensive tackle Doug Worthington

What a package at 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds. There aren't many defensive tackles in the country that offer Worthington's lean length on the inside. With his previous experience at defensive end, I'm sure Worthington will get a long look from NFL scouts just based on his body.

That said, defensive coordinator Jim Heacock has called Worthington's performance last season "decent." Has Worthington every been dominant for more than a play here or a play there? Has he consistently tied up the middle of the offensive line to allow OSU linebackers to run free? Has he created a consistent disruption and blown up the pocket to force quarterbacks to move their feet and make bad decisions?

He has been solid. He has been humble and apologetic after his arrest for DUI last year, and he has always been a guy liked by his teammates. He wants to be a good leader this season and talked recently about how much it would mean to him to be chosen as a captain. A year ago, he played 231 minutes in 13 games, second to Cameron Heyward among OSU defensive lineman.

You can expect him to be a steadying force on the interior again. But the Buckeyes need more than steady. He needs to be one of those fifth-year seniors who plays like he never has before, or he is listed too high at No. 12.

Congrats Doug on being named a captain . Pretty cool because we're both from the same area of the country and came to Ohio State at the same time. Good luck this season :osu:

I like the start to this year for him way better than last year. Congrats to a very well deserving young man!:oh:

Great pics as always from the Ozone.

Thad was straight beastin on that play as well, IIRC. I'm almost positivie it was the one where he pushed his man straight back into Juice's face and Worthington came flying over the top to make a sack.

Our d-line is fucking nasty this year.
