DT Antwuan Jackson (St. Louis Battlehawks)

Antuan is living example of "no player before his time". Actually lifted from a wine commercial, he didn't click in his freshman season at Auburn, and when he came to C'bus, he didn't live up to his 5* rating. Don't really know what it was, health issues, technique lack, desire lack, dunno. Coach Johnson has molded him, cajoled him, and probably kicked his a** when needed, and forwhatever reason, in this, his senior year, the light clicked on. He was behind some talented DTs, but learned. Yeah, filling in for Togai, he did well, and getting into his head, can assume that he intends to carry on with that performance and better it. I applaud him for his tenacity, and listening to his coaching. Cheers to Coach J for his development of an athlete. Antuan, we will look forward to your progress in the 2021 season. Go Bucks!

Jackson quietly had almost 200 snaps last season, and in fact all three backups consistently got time in basically every game.

LJ Sr was probably preparing to lose both Togiai and Garrett with the rotation. But bottom line they all had more snaps than one would think looking back.

Also want to shout out to Cage (I know it's not his thread). He's a cat that waited, waited, and waited (I fully expected to see him bolt to Cincy). He was the starter in the Natti, which surprised me, however, don't know how well he fared there. Lots of runs up the middle. He also has persevered and now will be getting some serious minutes. Would really like to witness a full Buckeye practice, and have my chair around Coach Johnson. Would like to watch him coach up everybody, not just focusing on his superstars, but all the levels of players he's dealing with.

Well this certainly helps with depth and hopefully he's a guy that can make a last year leap. Either way, glad to have him back.

1) Ohio State graduate senior defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson announced Tuesday afternoon that he is returning for his sixth-and-final season of college ball.

2) Jackson graduated in May of 2019 with a degree in human development and family sciences.

3) Both starting DT Haskell Garret is returning and Jerron Cage was picked to start at NT in the CFP CG when Tommy Togiai was unavailable also returns.

Just sayin': Reading between the lines (above), for a player to stick around that long he has to have serious NFL dreams. He knows the NFL "brass ring" will only come around one more time. You are going to see a player go all out in 2021 as if every play could be his last (as a football player); he has to realize that if he doesn't, 2021 will be his last season as a football player. If he has that ability to make the leap we'll see it.

“Antwuan played much better this year,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “I thought our defensive tackles played strong. I think that we’re going to have some good depth there. Have some of the younger guys that need to come on, some guys who were injured there are going to need to step up. And then we’ll have a couple of the younger guys coming in here in the summer that hopefully can battle for some time.”

Not certain why, time running out might be a biggie, but it appears that many of the senior players have 'break-out' years their senior year. Marshon Lattimore, the 5* LB from DC area (old age brain farts), and hopefully Antwuan follows. I know there are more than these, but sometimes cannot remember what I had for breakfast. Anyway, Script's showing the total snaps, means the people stepping in the trenches are 'blooded'. Wish the DBs would have played more people, more often. But hey, that's why these coaches are paid the big bucks. Go Buckeyes!
