Washington has a leader
As a junior, Washington racked up 119 tackles and 17 sacks in earning All-State honors. Heading into his senior season, he?s narrowed his list of scholarship offers to Alabama, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State, with Notre Dame on the outside looking in.
The in-state Buckeyes are out in front, and Washington is looking to take his official visit to Columbus with his Taft teammate Dwayne Stanford the weekend of Sept. 10 for the Toledo game.
"I love Ohio State," Washington said. "I love the tradition. I was talking to the coaches, and (defensive coordinator) Coach (Jim) Heacock said I have a good chance to compete as a freshman for a starting spot because I'm a good rush end and they don't have any true rush ends. The campus is nice. The environment is good. The people were nice at the Miami game last year. I was walking to the recruiting room where we had a luncheon, and one of the people in the crowd screamed my name and it made me feel good."
The program that may have the best chance of pushing Ohio State for Washington?s signature is the Crimson Tide.
