Dorial Green-Beckham (Tennessee Titans)

This kid and Ty Williams lined up on the outside with Braxton throwing the ball would be fun to watch in the redzone. How do you cover one receiver at 6'6 and the other receiver at 6'7 in the redzone? There are not to many DBs who can cover this kind of height.

Hillcrest poses tough test for Jays - Marshfieldmail.com

One of those skill players is 6-foot-6, 220-pound Dorial Green-Beckham. Beckham and the Hornets are coming off a 45-0 win against West Plains in their district opener. Beckham had 218 yards on seven receptions for two touchdowns in the win.

For the season, Beckham has 1,243 yards on 49 receptions.

The Jays won’t likely face an opponent that has such a skilled player the rest of the way. Recruiting hub Rivals has Beckham already receiving scholarship offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Louisiana State and many others.

ESPN RISE | Dorial Green-Beckham, a junior, may be most dynamic athlete in the country

119A8D903AE443D7B974EA3B81090BC8.ashx

Green-Beckham of Hillcrest (Springfield, Mo.) possesses out-of-this-world talent in football, basketball and track. But that?s only the beginning.

11/01/10 - From the outside, it appears Hillcrest (Springfield, Mo.) junior Dorial Green-Beckham has it all.

Size? He's 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, with the kind of chiseled physique you usually see in Italian art museums. Speed? He runs the 40 in 4.37 seconds. Versatility? The multitalented phenom is arguably the best all-around athlete in the country.

In the fall, Dorial is Missouri's most dominant football player and the likely No. 1 recruit in the nation from the Class of 2012. As a sophomore last year, he set a state record with 1,616 receiving yards to go along with 23 touchdowns.

Once football ends, he trades his cleats for Jordans. Last season, he averaged 20 points and 8.5 rebounds, leading Hillcrest to the Class 5 state title and earning tournament MVP honors.

In the spring, he turns to track, which he took up as a freshman because it was a way to stay busy after football and basketball. But he's such a good athlete that he won two state titles (100, triple jump) and was runner-up in the long jump this past spring.

But as great as things have been for Dorial between the lines, he hasn't been as fortunate away from athletics. He's never known his father, and his mother, Charmelle Green, has struggled with alcoholism and been in and out of jail for years.

Dorial, along with his siblings, has shuttled from Springfield to St. Louis and back. He has lived with relatives and in foster homes. Sometimes he's had a bed; sometimes he's had to make do with a spot on the floor.

Green-Beckham will go for the record Wednesday night when the Hornets host St. Clair in regional action; their first ever playoff home game at Shumate Stadium.

Dorial Green-Beckham sets three state records
MaxPreps 2009-2010 Male Athlete of the Year sets three state records.
By: Dave Krider | MaxPreps.com

He may be only a junior, but Dorial Green-Beckham already is the holder of three Missouri state records for pass receiving.

The powerful 6-foot-5, 215-pound receiver had 77 yards and three touchdown catches last week as Hillcrest (Springfield, Mo.) overcame an early 21-0 deficit to defeat St. Clair (Mo.), 49-28, in its Class 4 state playoff opener.

The Springfield News-Leader reported that those modest totals enabled him to set state career records with 4,079 yards and 51 touchdown catches. He also bettered his own single-season state record with 1,622 receiving yards. Quarterback Matt Futrell did the passing, totaling 236 yards and four touchdowns.

Green-Beckham hopes to add to his records Monday night when Hillcrest takes on 10-1 Union in the second playoff round.

Schoch: Famous football coaches could be in town in December | News-Leader.com

November 29, 2010

Don't be surprised if you see some familiar faces showing up at Hillcrest High School basketball games this winter.

Nick Saban, Jim Tressel and Bobby Petrino could be among the Hornets' famous fans in December.

The interest of the Alabama, Ohio State and Arkansas football coaches -- among others -- is not whether coach John Schaefer's team can get off to a strong start in defense of its state championship. No, the guys just want to get in the line of sight of football mega-recruit Dorial Green-Beckham.

The NCAA has a period in December where college football head coaches can visit high schools, although they still can't talk to the star wide receiver, Dorial's adoptive father, John Beckham, said.

"They'll sit right behind the bench and wave at him," Beckham said. "It's their way of letting him know how important he is."

Green-Beckham has been rated as a five-star recruit by Scout.com and could be among the top players in the Class of 2011 when Rivals.com releases its rankings soon.
