And that folks, is why it's so stupid for young kids to throw away their playing careers on dumb [censored] like drug possession, stealing golf clubs out of an SUV or cheating on an exam.

Athletes can get away with just about anything (except dogfighting apparently) once. Don't throw away your Get Out of Jail Free card on a misdemeanor when you could cash it in on something like this. :roll2:

Good point about the dog fighting actually, Vick served a lot more time and will lose a lot more money and of his life for killing several dogs than if he had just killed a person like everyone else, I guess. Bat-shit insane :shake:

I don't like it and I am a big Browns fan. Saying that, I have to believe that the family getting a financial settlement played a big role in the amount of time that Stallworth is serving. I have to, or certainly hope, that the family agreed to this jail time with the prosecutor. I guess sometimes money can do a lot of things which is unfortunate.

I find the jail time to be a bit insane myself. However the victim's family must not have seen a true murderer in their eyes otherwise I'm confident they would be pleading for justice at this point. The financial aspect I'm sure helps the days being so minimal. I view this as a terrible accident. He was driving drunk, the victim was jay-walking. One is largely worse than the other, but its not as if Donte wanted this to happen. I realize most driving driving accidents arent something people want to happen.

However he showed considerable remorse and I bet he'll see the man's face in his dreams everytime he goes to sleep, and I can't even begin to imagine what that might be like.

Its a horrible thing that happened, one I hope no person should suffer through... because nobody wins in this situation.

While I disagree with the majority of your post, I do agree that I think the remorse that Stallworth showed after the accident along with the financial settlement probably helped him with the family.

If you are drunk, don't drive! One of the best announcements I have ever heard after a professional hockey league game was when the announcer said "Please Be Careful on your way home and drive safely because I am walking".

From the article linked above
Cornwell said Stallworth has been working out to assure he'll be physically ready to go when cleared to return to the field.

"Yesterday at dinner he was complaining that his hamstring was too tight because he was out running hills with Frank Gore, Fred Taylor and Plax [Plaxico Burress]. So he's been working out," Cornwell said.

Stallworth might try working out with some guys other than the above three especially Plaxico.
