Don't Mess With Paris, Texas!!

Ok that is certainly reasonable. I think of you as a great BP poster but I was just thinking you didn't have a problem with the story. That would have disturbed me. Thanks for clearing me up on that.
i def see it eye raising. but i think what youll see from me is lets let things play out. i dont have enough info to make a real conclusion. it is def an issue that is concerning. but not one that im willing to jump to a conclusion on. ive never been to paris. never meet anyone from there. and im not going to form an opinion of four situations and one judge.

I keep reading that she had no prior arrest record, but not one article or blog has offered evidence of that. I suppose someone's word is good enough.

The girl does have a long history of being a disruption to the school, often accusing teachers or others of racism. That much is mentioned. While there may be merit to her claims, or a perceived merit, that doesn't excuse the behaviour.

If it is so bad in Paris, Texas, why haven't all of the blacks just left? I agree that it isn't a right answer. They shouldn't have to. Nor should they be expected to. But if its as bad as they proclaim... I'm just saying.

There very well may be a serious problem in Paris Texas. But a lot more info would have to come out than two girls, a guy and his truck, and incidents that no one alive could have witnessed.

I understand the skepticism, but SEVEN YEARS?!?! They could've gave her probation, house arrest, or just simply expelled her from school. The 19 year old kid actually killed someone, it shouldn't matter if he did it on purpose or not. There is nothing that could justify pushing a person of authority, but the penalty was certainly too harsh.

Exactly. Regardless of the races of those involved, you don't give fucking probabtion for someone guilty of negligent vehicular homicide...doing what he did just makes the judge open for serious review by the state judicial system. Then he turns around and gives a 7-year prison term to a 14-year-old black girl for pushing a teacher...I wonder if he gave a "Seig Heil!" after he imposed sentence. :roll1:

The penalty was too harsh for a shove, I'll agree with that. But again, do we really know that it was just a shove? She says it was a shove. What do the TA and other wtinesses say? Was it a shove or a full fist and foot swinging assault? She says she was shoved first. Was it really a shove or a redirect by grabbing the arm or just putting an arm out in a blocking motion that she walked into? I've seen these crazy exaggerations out of kids before.

Without viewing the witness affidavits and the official police report, particularly the TA's side of the story, how do we really know what happened that day?

We don't truly know what happened. What we do know, is that I could walk into any bar on a saturday night, get into an actuall fistfight and spend, depending on his injuries, 90 days, maybe six months in jail, tops. I'm not suggesting the judge is a bigot (though it appears that way), but the sentence is ridiculous.

Ageed. The judge is out of his mind.
