Don't Blame US News for the College Ranking Game

Wrong glass, Sir.
Found this on a higher education website this evening. Ohio was well represented. Just one question. Where are the Fredos; Fredo of Ohio and FredOU? After all, reading their boards would lead one to think that Ohio State's superiority is supposed to be a recent development.

This is the earliest college ranking I have found. From So You're Going to College by Clarence Lovejoy, 1940. Colleges were ranked based on a study of how often their graduates had appeared in Who's Who in America.

Are you saying Columbia stole our "The..."?

Based on this: Office of Legal Affairs - The Ohio State University

Legal guys at THE Ohio State University said:
...
B. Contracting Parties:
The contracting party for all University contracts is ?The Ohio State University on behalf of _______________ (insert department)?. For example, a contract for the School of Architecture would read ?The Ohio State University on behalf of its School of Architecture?.
...

It seems the "The" is part of our legal name and I want it back... we should file some kind of action against Columbia and/or US News... perhaps "taste infringement".

Strange that Case Western Reserve University is ranked 40th on that list from 1940, when such an institution did not exist until 1967.

I assume the web site has taken it upon itself to add the scores of the Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University from that time period.

Do not know. I cut and pasted directly from College Confidential. It might have been just Case at 40, and they typed CWRU out of habit.
