Mass delusions aren't proof of anything. If tens of thousands of people believed that actual witches were burned at the stake in the 1600's, does that mean that they were real witches?

depends on your point of view i suppose. without question wiccan's exist. additionally, many persons dub themselves or are so dubbed witches/warlocks. though i would certainly agree that it is very unlikely that every woman who was burned alive was a witch. i would also agree that the popular belief that witches have unimaginable supernatural powers is also likely a myth. however, neither is proof that witches do not exist or that no witches were burned in the salem witch trials.

That show "Ghost Hunters" on SciFi Channel finds some pretty creepy stuff sometimes.

it can be an interesting show from time to time. gf really likes it. personally i don't think they are scientific enough. id like to see some of the things they actually catch video/audio sent off to real professionals to be analyzed. most of the people on that show are pretty weak and i have doubts about their qualifications and trustworthiness. but i will admit they have caught a few things that i couldn't come up with explanations for.

I can't stand those guys. They go to some pretty interesting places, but I honestly can't stand Jason or Grant. I'll stick to my own investigations :tongue2:

I like it, I wish it was a bit more scientific, but for the most part it's the most scientific one. In one they stayed in a haunted hotel, the one Steven King stayed in. Had the weirdest stuff happen and on one episode it was all live. Girls laughing really loud. On the non live episode you actually saw a door shut on it's own. They've caught figures and seen a ton of objects move themselves, very freaky.

No way there are "ghosts" as we define them. That would mean every living entity since the beginning of the earth would have a spirit wandering around here....sorry, but I don't buy it.
Not that you'd buy this explanation either, but if reincarnation is also real, then the spirit world would not be as overpopulated as you're suggesting, necessarily.

.......

The law of conservation of energy states that energy can not be created or destroyed.

So, IF:

We have a soul,
and it is energy (and I can't imagine what else it could be, but am open to ideas)

Then:

The soul should continue on.

Although the law of conversion would not demand that the soul remain in the same form (of energy). Likewise, the existence of a soul is not something I've been able to prove, save for some introspective analysis. Of course, introspection is a pretty blunt tool, so....

the house i grew up in is considered by most who have spent time in it to be very haunted. never really saw anything nor did i ever have what i would consider a bad experience. the house was built in the early 1800's and the story goes that a woman who was pregnant at the time was violently murdered by her lover there....

How come we never hear about haunted trailer parks?

Plenty of crazy shit goes on there.

My wife and I stayed at the Myrtles, a haunted plantation in Louisiana, and had an interesting experience. The place is obviously old, with the rooms being period. The little bathroom had a wooden door with an old hook and eye latch that you had to consciously lock, and the door swung and stayed "open" naturally. My then GF was in the bathroom, washing her face or whatever, and I was on the bed reading the newspaper sort of responding to her chatting with half of my brain as I read the sports page.

I heard her sort of yell at me "How'd you do that - that's not funny!" "Huh?", I said. Seems that when she opened her eyes after splashing her face the door was now closed and latched shut from the inside.

She was freaked out. Pretty cool. It was in the little girls room, the ones who were killed when they ate their mom's birthday cake that a slave had poisoned. Mom had pitched a fit when her hubby was found to be boinking the slave, and mom had banished her to the fields. She got revenge.

Fucking slaves.
