DL Adam Bellamy (R.I.P.)

Better Know a Buckeye feature on Adam by Vico at ohd.com

Adam wasn?t a high profile recruit like a Terrelle Pryor or Michael Brewster. He hails from a part of the Ohio HS football landscape that is not very well regarded, though Michigan?s Heisman candidate went to a rival high school. He attended the All-American Combine in Texas his junior year, but he wasn?t at all the camps. In spite of these limitations, he put together an impressive offer sheet by the end of his junior year of high school. Akron, Miami (OH), Indiana and Cincinnati offered a few weeks after the combine, but offers from four MAC schools still essentially meant he was flying under the radar entering March. Michigan State extended an offer the first of March. Nerdwestern followed suit, but that was it for awhile as he focused on the baseball season. Before his commitment to Ohio State on the tenth of June, he had acquired offers from those aforementioned schools, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Ohio and Michigan. The Michigan offer was, by far, the biggest of the group.

"This week I weighed around 303 because they've been feeding us real good," said Bellamy.
"I dropped a couple of pounds so I'm back down to 295, what I came in at. They measured me at 6-5 and three quarters.
"I prefer the nose, a three-technique kind of guy but I played more five-technique out here this week. I felt like I had the ability to do that and found myself clogging some stuff up on the bottom of some piles."
Sounds like the big DT most of us have wanted since the '07 Illinois game. Didn't realize he's so tall now.

Saw Adam in person and up close at the Rose Bowl, simply this kid is massive and well put together. I expect that we will see him get quite a bit of playing time next year. He looks like a man among-est boys I was shocked!

If he progress in the strength and speed categories coupled with his reputation for playing with a nasty attitude this could be the next great DT @tOSU!

Curious if anyone heard how he faired in practice this past year.

Forgot to give a shout out to Adam, he really did well out there. He certainly showed some encouraging signs out there...plays the run well and is quick closing on the QB. We need Goebel and Bellamy to rotate in some...if not for giving a break, we will need them to have experience with Larimore as a senior.

Bellamy shines: Finding depth on the defensive line has been a topic all camp. A standout Saturday was red-shirt freshman Adam Bellamy from Aurora High, who was in on three sacks, while fellow second-teamers Garrett Goebel, a red-shirt sophomore, and true freshman Johnathan Hankins also played well. Bellamy also worked with the first team after Heyward went out and had great penetration on Saine's fumble.

Bellamy had a great game on Saturday night, I just couldn't help but notice him all game long, he was really active at the DE spot and apparently got his first career sack. Good game Adam!

Bellamy had a great game on Saturday night,

Yep, this guy brought his "A" game on Saturday. Continues to improve in terms of his pass rushing skills. I still think his best spot is on the inside, but with all of the mixing and matching of d-linemen this year due to Williams' injury, he has come up big.
