Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky on Wednesday was sent to serve his child molestation prison sentence at an institution in far southwestern Pennsylvania that includes most of the state's death row inmates.

The Corrections Department said Sandusky was transferred to Greene State Prison after being evaluated at a facility outside Harrisburg. Prison officials said he will be housed in protective custody.

"We make individual decisions based on facts," Corrections Secretary John Wetzel said in a written statement. "Given the high profile nature of this individual, coupled with the nature of his crimes, this makes him very vulnerable in a prison setting."

Sara Ganim, who won Pulitzer Prize for Sandusky coverage, accepts job with CNN

Sara Ganim, The Patriot-News crime reporter who won a Pulitzer Prize for her coverage of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, has accepted a position as a correspondent with CNN.

Ganim started with CNN this week.

"I'm excited that I?m going to get to work on some other stuff," she said. "I'm still going to work on the Sandusky story but I'm also ready to do other things. It's not the only story in the world and I don't want to get to the point where this is the only thing I can do."

Ganim, who grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., will be based in CNN's Atlanta headquarters.

Ah federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison. I hope the custody isn't too protective. I think ol' Jer needs to get stretched out a little.

Heard on the radio this morning that aside from spending his entire day in his 6x9 ft cell (where he east his three daily meals), he gets to exercise outside in a 10x15 ft fenced in area for 30 minutes a day, gets three 10min showers a week (Mon, Wed, Fri), and gets one 10-minute visitation period per week. For what he did to innocent boys for over 30 years, he's getting off lightly...

So I found out something interesting today. A short segment about Sandusky popped up on the local news in the break room at work, and one of my co-workers said "He did it without a doubt." Turns out he actually went to HS with Sandusky, graduated with him, knew Sandusky's parents, and mentioned a few very interesting things/stories about him.

I for one, would be interested in hearing these stories.

Honestly I don't remember a whole lot of specifics from the conversation today, just that I walked away thinking "There is no way everyone who knew him couldn't see this as a possibility" Things like him not really being all that interested in girls and being a rather stark loner, but very smart, and somewhat cold even at that age; all stuff that sounds somewhat normal taken individually, but when you start piecing them together as my co-worker said and you connect the dots it all starts to add up. I don't usually work at the location I was at today, but if I'm back there, I'll definitely be sure to ask him a little more and be much more attentive. He was certainly very sure that Sandusky did it, and that when he looks back on the Sandusky he knew growing up, it fits together.

He made repeated points, though, about his parents rolling in their graves, because they worked with at risk and disadvantaged youth as well. I got the sense that ol' Jerry may have picked up and remembered how vulnerable many of the kids his parents helped were and figured out that it was a good avenue to pursue...

It's also possible Jerry picked it up from daddy (or some other adult who was around both he and the disadvantaged kids).

Check this out, guys:

You have GOT'S to be kidding me......

:shake:
I saw a clip of the lawyer the other day saying they didn't have enough time to figure out how to convince jurors that there was a reasonable doubt. It came across as "he's clearly guilty, but surely with time I could have brainwashed a stupid juror or two into less than 100% certainty."

Well, then the judge should say, get back to me when you've had enough time...

(He won't be holding his breath)

Given the way my co-worker talked about Sandusky's parents, I would put that possibility very low, although another adult is a possibility. Of course its just anecdotes, but that was the impression I got. I'm sure much of the same was said about Jerry, though, so I guess its always a possibility.
