question for you fitness guru's....

I feel like i'm starting to use too much weight when down lower body workouts. Like when I to leg extension workouts (quad muscles) I'm using almost max weight the machine has (I think roughly 290 lbs?) and it really isn't that hard for me (I have beastly quad muscles), and there other areas where I'm using a lot of weight. I noticed afterwards for a day a two, my lower body was really hurting, and I don't mean sore hurting, almost like they just got overworked.

So my question is what's a good rep system to use if I wanna just use lower weight? When I was adding weight each time, i was doing 3 reps of 12...

maybe go something like 5 reps of 10?

That seems rather odd, don't know what to tell you.

That depends on a few things.

Are you using proper form?
Are you getting proper rest in between days you do legs?
Sets of 3x12 shouldn't be that rough - try lowering the weight.
Or -
Attempt difference exercises - squats, lunges (weighted) half ball stuff.
Tons of options to be had. Just because your quads are "beastly" doesn't
mean you're not experiencing lactate buildup or general over-exersion.

Or flat out lower the weight and see your results.
