A MAN OF BETRAYED JUSTICE

Quite an ending. Uni came back and tied it, leaving Texas State with the ball with 3 timeouts, over a minute, an offense that was hardly stopped all game, a good kicker, and the wind at their back.

The coach decides to kneel the ball and play for OT. Uni gets a FG in OT, then Texas State throws an INT and loses. The home crowd and the entire team was stunned.

Texas State had never been to the playoffs before, and are now out due toa very questionable call by the caoch.

still, though, i got to watch alot of the first half, and then the overtime, and from what i saw it was a great game. some very exciting plays.

Yeah exciting from a fans point of view, but no soo much for a Texas St. point of view. They had a good to great oppurtunity to just try and win the game. THen you know the players had the feeling throughout the whole OT why didnt we try for it.

Big game today between Furman and my Appalachian State Mountaineers. In my opinion, they are the two best teams still alive in the playoffs. Furman beat ASU by 3 points at their place earlier in the season. It was ASU's only loss to a 1-AA school (other losses to I-A bowl bound LSU and K-State). This game is at our house.

Furman has a great running game and a very productive passing game behind a very savvy QB Ingle Martin (remember him? transferred from Florida). They have a good, but not great, defense.

ASU has a great passing game and a more than adequate running game behind our dual-threat QB Richie Williams (we like to say that Vince Young is the Richie Williams of I-A ball). Richie runs the no huddle spread as well as anyone I have seen. Our defense is very fast and aggressive (read capable of shutting an opponent down, but also vulnerable to the occasional big play).

Should be a great game. Watch it at noon on ESPN2. Look for my son and I in the crowd. I'll be wearing my tOSU ball cap.

ASU 29, Furman 23

Ok, so I guess nobody watched App State win in a thriller over Furman. But I did. I was there, and I'm still pumped. The goalpost parade went through the entire town of Boone (small town). So now it's on to Chattanooga for the I-AA finals against Northern Iowa. I'll be there, too.

Only major bummer is that our Payton Award finalist QB went out with what looks like a blown tendon in his ankle. Too soon to tell, but I'm guessing he'll be out for the championship game. But, did I mention that our backup QB is pretty good also?

Go App State!!
