Detroit Red Wings (Official Thread)

A hat trick & four points total for Abdelkader is pretty much one of the biggest jokes I've ever heard of. Anaheim are a complete disgrace for allowing that bum to accomplish that on there home ice. Didn't watch a single minute of this game due to the USA-Costa Rica game & the tournament, so I'll leave it at that, but Abdelkader ? Really ? He's easily one of the worst players on this team & they are a pretty awful team. Too funny.

One was ALL him, the others were them leaving him wide open and getting great passes.

Beating on the 2nd/3rd best team in the NHL on there ice, ill take with the Jackets roster if they are in a red sweater.

2 points.

Jimmy howard is this team. he stops everything. watch the goals scored on him, he has no chance.

As long as he wasn't in the penalty box, I'm fine with him, but he's always in there for pure stupidity. I gave him years of leeway because he was a stud at MSU, but my patience wore thinner & thinner as the years went on & he didn't improve at all. Good for him though. I hope he can build on this, but not expecting much.

I was stunned to see we beat them so badly. That's the NHL for you though. Anything can happen on a given night. We'll see on Sunday whether this was an aberration or not.

Jimmy has been hung out to dry all to often this season. He gets no help at all from his defense, so I feel bad for the guy because he's such a great goalie. Tough seeing him have a rough year simply because his teammates in front of him absolutely stink.

Couldnt agree with anything but this. Stands on his head everynight. Just noticed back to back at Disney. Some fighting went on towards the end of the 2nd, prolly will carry over too.

Pronger is long gone, so we don't have to worry too much about losing anyone if that's the case. Lilja is long gone too, so we don't have to worry about him handing Selanne the puck in OT. That's one rivalry I don't miss at all. They absolutely owned us back then. Scott Niedermayer still haunts my dreams some nights.

So the Wings go 5-1 on this West Coast swing, with the only loss coming @ Calgary, as well as a home loss to Minnesota in between. Bizarre, especially the back-to-back wins @ Anaheim. At least they've got some breathing room if things go south, because there's six teams all within four points of that 8th & final playoff spot.

I said back at the beginning of the trip that they needed to get 10 points on the west coast swing to seriously consider them making the playoffs and they did.

And actually, guys like Ian White have really started playing well, much to my surprise.

Didn't think they would, but they did & have the possibility of getting two more tomorrow night against San Jose, who will be playing on a back-to-back as they're playing Anaheim tonight. It's really been the story this season, that they put together a nice little stretch of games, then completely fall flat on there face. Never envisioned a run like this on the West Coast though. They're sitting in decent position right now with 15 games left, but the West is pretty wide open right now & will obviously come down to the end like it seems to do every season.

There are no words. Not everyday you see your defenseman go top shelf on his own goalie.
