Detroit Lions (official thread)

Things baseball could learn from football: Equity. It's OK to let the spot light shine in places other than New York and LA.

Things that football needs to work on: How do you protect QBs without killing the game? A QB running down the sidelines is a running back. If he refuses to step out of bounds then he gets treated like a running back. Blow the whistle on contact in the pocket?

Things the NFL could learn is a QB is a QB. Quit calling the roughing based on who the QB is and not based on the hit.

Ranking NFL playoff heartbreaking losses: Lions join all-time list after NFC Championship meltdown vs. 49ers

Not many fans have felt the pain that Lions fans feel right now

Detroit Lions fans deserved a better ending than the one they received on Sunday night. With the Super Bowl beckoning, Lions fans were instead treated to one of the biggest collapses in NFL playoff history, as Detroit was unable to parlay a 17-point halftime lead into an NFC title.

Detroit Lions fans deserved a better ending than the one they received on Sunday night.

Just sayin': No they don't, the last time I checked Detroit was still in Xichigan......:grr:

Now the only negative for the Lions losing is that Taylor Decker, Jonah Jackson, and Jake McQuaide no longer have an opportunity to get "a ring" this season; however, on the plus side Nick Bosa and Chase Young still do......:boogie:

Every Lions Fan Should Be Losing Their Goddamn Mind After Seeing Josh Reynolds Say 'Shit Happens' To Explain His Drops Against The 49ers

[Source] - “Shit happens, man,” Reynolds said Monday, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “I know what kind of player I am. Didn’t want to drop them. Shit happens. I just — do I want those back? Of course, but I can’t and I just got to work this offseason and be prepared for the moment when it comes.”

I don't care how important Josh Reynolds was to the Lions or what games he played good in. The fact he came out and said shit happens when dropping TWO catches against the 49ers and being a major reason why they lost the game can't happen. It's the last thing any Lions fan should want to hear. Hell, I'm not even a Lions fan, simply a normal American who wanted to watch Dan Campbell in a Super Bowl and this pisses me off. Shit happens? How is that what you come up with after this:

Sources: Lions signing QB Jared Goff to 4-year, $212M extension

The Detroit Lions are signing quarterback Jared Goff to a four-year, $212 million contract extension that includes $170 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.

The deal makes the 2016 No. 1 pick the highest-paid player in franchise history.

The $53 million average annual salary in Goff's new deal makes him the second-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, behind only the Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow ($55 million).
