I did some fucked up mission where every enemy was 100 times harder to kill than anything I've tried so far. I don't know if I went out of order or what, but for the other 2 guys that were on the mission I was pretty worthless. I think I killed 22 to their 100+, and I clearly died way more than either of them combined. I must have a pea shooter compared to what they have.

I'm starting to think this game is over my head.

Sounds like you did a high level strike. It might be too soon for that. There is a wide range in difficulty. I wouldn't worry about if you were any help or not. I'm certain the other two didn't mind.

What is your level and weapon set? That will make all the difference in the world.

Look at the level of the mission you do before you join/start. There's a sliding scale for damage and if you're more than a level or two below the enemy, you'll feel like you have a pea shooter. Even with that same gun, you'll cause more damage if you're leveled up. You can play way up if you have some heavies to carry you, but I've found it's more fun to play missions around your level.

I picked this up the day it came out. I played around with it for two days and didn't touch it again until last week. Now I'm hooked. I got so annoyed in the tower then didn't know what the heck to do. But now that I figured it out, its a blast.

It's hard to pick up and the story doesn't make a lot of sense, but once you figure out the bounty system and who to talk to in the tower to get different stuff, it really picks up. The key for me was doing the vanguard strikes to get "vangaurd marks" then I bought some purple armor and started ranking up.
