To clarify my Florida State and Miami comments, they are both still close to being powers, but they may both fall into middling natures.

At the same time, if one or the either was to become a complete power, which may happen for either, Florida's base may become drier, and Florida may no longer be such a major player. There is no necessary lasting power in the state.

The fact is, 20 years is not a long time in this type of discussion, to me. Maybe I'm wrong. . .
There seemed to be enough to go around in the late 90s for all of us. But scUM will NEVER have the facilities. Actually, the recession may widen the gap resource wise.

But let me ask you this: If a program has more (or at least as much) success as a program like tOSU for several decades, does not that bode well for them on a long term prognosis?

What factors do you see that are essential to becoming a platinum type program?

Success since at least the 1950s.
