I usually use Sperling's Best Places to look at economic indicators, but you can only compare two cities at a time. This one does 20... bookmarked! Downside is that some categories such as cost of living/housing market/weather aren't included.

It would be nice if it grouped zips by proximity for accuracy... housing in particular can be so different from one zip to the next that it throws off results entirely, and I'm usually looking at regions larger than zips anyway.
