Deaths Of Notable Sports Figures (R.I.P.)

Joe was an integral part of the 'Big Red Machine'. Always liked his arm flap when he was at bat. Don't remember - did he make HofF as a 2bman? Also didn't know why he wasn't given a managerial shot somewhere. Liked his analysis as a commentator, he knew his gear. RIP, Joe.

Next to Tony Perez, he was the one I wanted at bat when the Reds needed an RBI....

He is in as a 2B and is the greatest, IMHO, to play the position. Joe was offered many opportunities to manage from multiple teams. But he was already a highly successful business man and thought managing was a step back but also said he would consider a GM role if offered because there are not enough black executives in baseball and he would cherish the opportunity to clear that path. a truly great baseball man. sadly no organization ever offered him a front office position to the best of my knowledge.
