Sam Hubbard Up in the Air About the NFL
Redshirt junior defensive end Sam Hubbard took part in Ohio State’s annual Senior Tackle last week, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s headed to the NFL after this season.

Each senior says a few words to the team before their final tackle.
It is always an emotional day for everyone in attendance.
And even though he has one more year of eligibility, Sam Hubbard took part as well.
Why?
“It was just an opportunity I didn’t want to pass up. I’m not sure what I’m going to do next year. I’m just focusing on winning a Big Ten Championship,” he said.
Here is a clip of what goes on at Senior Tackle just to give you an idea.
“I don’t want to start a precedent. He’s been a three-year starter. He’s a graduate. And that’s his decision,” head coach Urban Meyer said on Monday. “We talked about it, and he wanted to go through senior tackle. And that’s his call.”
Plenty went into Hubbard’s decision, but mostly he just wanted to share a special moment with special people.
“Since I’m graduating, all of the guys that I came in with are doing it. It’s just something that I wanted to share with them,” he said. “A special moment, the 2014 class. Being a graduate, [Meyer] offered me the choice, I said, ‘Why not.’ I’ve been watching these guys do it for three years and it’s such a special moment that I didn’t want to miss out.”
As to speculation on whether Meyer expects Hubbard to leave, he said he didn’t want to speak for his standout defensive end. Asked if Ohio State’s door would remain open to Hubbard, he answered immediately.
“Our door?” he asked, and then extended his arms in a wide open manner, indicating that they will definitely be leaving the light on for Sam Hubbard.
