I am not sure I understand the number there. What do you mean by 12.6? How can one offer a non-whole number of scholarships?

edit: Yes I looked through the pdf but wasn't able to figure out the 12.6 number for lacrosse men. Definitely don't follow.

You award each athlete a partial scholarship, where only a portion of his tuition is covered by the scholarship. i.e. Player X gets a ".6 scholarship," which means that 60% of his tuition is covered by the scholarship, but Player X will have to pay the remaining 40% on his own dime. Since a lacrosse team only has 12.6 scholarships to apportion throughout its entire roster, it is rare that a player is awarded a full scholarship, covering the entirety of tuition, as is done in football and basketball. Hubbard may be an exception, since he is obviously a highly coveted lacrosse and football player.

Looking at the NCAA lacrosse schedule, Hubbard could conceivably, I think, play both sports(although he would miss spring football) and thus render his lacrosse scholarship moot, as his football scholarship would override his lacrosse scholarship.

Random UM blog with quotes - cannot speak to the credibility of this site but they claim a quote from Hubbard listing OSU as his leader.

I happen to know some of Hubbard's family and I had him pegged to Stanford or ND (pending an offer), but that might have been premature. I am particularly interested in this recruitment because this is the type of in-state recruit OSU usually lost out on in the past (Rudolph, James, Welch, Hendricks, Albright, etc.). Not at all saying these have been huge recruits, but a lot of times OSU isn't the favorite for Cincy Catholic school prospects, so it will be interesting to watch.

Outside of devier posey, I can't think of the last GCL south kid that osu has gotten. For some reason they seem to usually go to ND, BC or michigan st(or even UC). Lets hope this one ends differently

Very true. Coombs is definitely loved and respected among cincy area HS coaches. He got UC some pretty good talent despite being, well, UC. With osu's resources and campus, among other things, coombs' success in the queen city among elite recruits can be very beneficial
